The Premier League has had its most expensive signing record broken twice in one transfer window – and both deals have been done by Liverpool. Alexander Isak has finally joined Liverpool from Newcastle in a British record deal, ending a summer-long saga with the striker moving to Anfield from St. James’ Park. Isak has become the all-time record signing in Englandliverpoolfc.com Florian Wirtz’s £116million move earlier this summer gave the record to Liverpool, taking it from Chelsea, who previously held top spot after signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton for £115million in August 2023. But that deal is now going to drop to third in the all-time list, with the Blues also having the fourth-highest ever transfer fee following their signing of World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £106.5million. Meanwhile, Manchester United had a long history of being the leading spenders in England and former star man Paul Pogba had previously been the top-flight’s priciest player.
