Tomorrowland’s move to Thailand is expected to pump $360 million into the country’s economy over the next five years, The Business Times reports.
According to the Singaporean financial newspaper, the Thai cabinet has signed off on a budget of two billion baht, roughly $61 million, to bring the festival to Wisdom Valley, a new site near Pattaya. The event will launch in 2026 and continue through 2031.
Tomorrowland has long been a cornerstone of tourism in Belgium, drawing over 400,000 attendees each summer with its distinctive stage designs and global audience. The Thai edition is expected to welcome nearly a million visitors across five years, with about 50,000 in its debut year. Forecasts suggest that ticket sales alone will generate more than $154 million, roughly 40% of the projected $360 million economic impact.
Government officials have increasingly turned to high-profile events to boost Thailand’s tourism sector, which reportedly contributes 12% of the country’s GDP. EDC expanded to the city of Phuket in January before Bangkok, hosted the Summer Sonic music festival last weekend. The Thai capital is now poised to host a Formula 1 street race as early as 2028, ESPN reported in June.
Tomorrowland’s agreement also includes the launch of an Event Academy, designed to train Thai entrepreneurs and producers in staging large-scale entertainment experiences to the iconic festival’s standards.
Tomorrowland has not announced the dates of its inaugural festival in Thailand at the time of this writing.
