Nobody can really take the place of Dolly Parton, but Tim McGraw is going to try.
Earlier this week, she announced that she would be postponing her December Las Vegas residency, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, due to “health challenges.”
She didn’t get specific, obviously, but Dolly explained that whatever she is going through will require surgery, and she will need time to recover, and therefore will not be ready to go in full show form by December,
In typical Dolly fashion, she joked that it wasn’t an appointment for her “usual trip to see my plastic surgeon,” and she feels as though God is trying to tell her to slow down for this season and rest up.
She assured everyone that she’s not quitting, and she plans to give the fans the show she feels they deserve as soon as she’s back to 100%:
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concert. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.
As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I wam not gong to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.
You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’m still able to work on all of my projects from Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. and don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.
But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
She was scheduled to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on December 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 13.
And it look like McGraw will be doing a mini residency of sorts on some of those select dates, announcing his Tim McGraw: Live in Vegas shows will take place on December 4, 6, 12 and 13, which were all open following Dolly’s announcement.
His shows will also line up with the National Finals RodeoMc in Vegas, and he recently brought the first ever rodeo to Nashville with the inaugural Music City Rodeo, so having his concerts coincide with that event should make for a fun week or two for everyone coming in for these events.
Of course, McGraw will run through all of his hits that have spanned his impressive 30+ year career, and for everyone who had tickets to Dolly’s run of sold-out shows, they will still be valid when she returns to the stage in September of 2026.
Tickets for McGraw’s show go on sale starting tomorrow, Saturday, October 4th.
