Taylor Sheridan continues to support his home state of Texas.
The writer, director and creator of shows like Yellowstone, its prequel and sequel spinoffs, and his most recent hit Landman, has long been a supporter of the state of Texas. And it’s the state he currently calls home, living in Weatherford, Texas at his Bosque Ranch. He also sometimes resides at his 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas – which was featured in the Yellowstone series.
To make a long story a little bit shorter, Sheridan likes to give back to Texas. Everything’s bigger in Texas, right? Well Taylor Sheridan prefers the phrase “Everything he does should be based in Texas.” And he’s already lined up a small town in Texas as the filming location for one of his next Yellowstone spinoffs titled, RIO PALO.
Ferris, Texas – a town about 20 miles south of Dallas – has been named as the lucky location, and the city put out a statement expressing their excitement to be involved:
“The city of Ferris is proud to announce that Paramount Pictures has selected Ferris as a primary filming location for its upcoming spinoff of the acclaimed television series ‘Yellowstone,’ titled ‘RIO PALO.’ The production will highlight the charm, versatility, and visual appeal of the community, positioning Ferris on a national stage and capturing its unique character for audiences around the world.”
The town itself is supposed to be very important to the show’s story. It was announced that a real home in Ferris will be featured as a lead character’s home in RIO PALO. Other locations throughout the city will be utilized, and all necessary permits and security measures have already been arranged.
In other words, the Yellowstone spinoff is good to go, and City Manager Brooks Williams couldn’t be happier about it:
“This is a proud and fun moment for Ferris. Ferris helped build Texas and the nation. Ferris bricks are in streets, schools and courthouses across this country. But that is just part of who we are. Ferris has never settled for being one thing. This city has evolved, adapted and grown.
Paramount’s decision to film here is one more chapter in that story. It affirms that a place with roots can still move forward, that a city shaped by history can also shape what comes next. We are proud of what this means for Ferris and proud to show others what we already know. We are just getting started.”
The other great news for Ferris, Texas? Being used as a filming location (thanks to King Street Productions LLC.) will likely create an economic boom in the town. Plus, the visuals of the small town will be brought to a national audience, and it could inspire other production companies to use Ferris as a location in the future.
And it’s not the first time that he’s helped boost the economy of a small town in Texas.
With all the plates that Sheridan has spinning, he’s often times traveling to and from the great Lone Star state. Considering neither of his ranches have a legitimate runway installed, he’s got to fly in and out of somewhere right. Well that somewhere is Granbury Regional Airport in Granbury, Texas. And that city has gotten a boost because of Taylor Sheridan’s association.
Something similar will undoubtedly take place in Ferris, Texas after it’s featured in RIO PALO.The post Taylor Sheridan Selects Small Texas Town As Filming Location For New ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff “Rio Palo” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
