Sky Sports make unexpected change to Super Sunday football coverage

Sky Sports have announced that fans will be able to watch four Premier League games at the same time on Sundays this season. The broadcasters revealed a new ‘Multiview’ format that allows four matches to be shown simultaneously on the same screen. Viewers can watch four games at the same time using Sky Sports’ new featureSky Sports The major change comes as Sky Sports will now show 215 Premier League fixtures live, which has gone up from 128 last term. They are now able to broadcast all 2pm kick-offs on Sunday afternoons, including the games rescheduled for that slot. Previously, only one 2pm kick-off would take a slot on Sky Sports‘ Super Sunday coverage, with the second game at 4:30pm. But any game at 2pm this season will now be live on Sky, with those moved due to European competition being shown too. And ‘Multiview’ is going to allow fans to watch all of the action at once, with viewers able to split the screen to include four games. Sky’s Director of Football, Gary Hughes, simply said about the change: “Super Sunday is becoming supersized.” Using ‘Multiview’, one game will be broadcast in a larger box on the screen, with three in smaller boxes on the right-hand side. Which game is on the larger, more central screen will be decided by Sky Sports’ editorial team depending on the action in each match. A Sunday night review show named ‘Extra Time’ is being launched, with Jamie Carragher providing reaction to the day’s fixtures. It will begin as soon as the Super Sunday coverage of the Premier League has finished, starting at 7:30pm each week. Also, Sky Sports had already revealed that ‘earlier on the same ‘Sunday Supplement’ was returning to TV screens. The iconic programme was a regular feature from 1999 to 2020 before it was axed. However, it’s now going to be rebooted with Dharmesh Sheth reported to be the host as guest journalists offer their opinions on the latest stories in football around a breakfast table. Sunday Supplement is on its way back to Sky Sports this seasonSky Sports Premier League YouTube There will also be extra coverage of the Premier League’s final day of the season, with all 10 games broadcast live. And Sky Sports News will have a new package of shows, including The Premier League Show and Premier League Friday, the latter of which is being hosted by Roman Kemp. Brand-new Match of the Day host Mark Chapman will be doubling his BBC work with a job as a presenter on Sky Sports too. Chapman joins David Jones and Kelly Cates as the regular hosts of their Premier League coverage. Gary Neville, Carragher, Roy Keane, Daniel Sturridge,Izzy Christiansen, Micah Richards, and Jamie Redknapp all remain part of the broadcaster’s punditry team. And finally, a reworked version of G.O.A.T by Kasabian featuring Cristale will be the new title track of Sky’s coverage. What else is changing?
