The best kind of surprise.

Today, the incredibly talented Ryan Bingham dropped a new song called “Dangerous,” which is an original track he wrote for the upcoming thriller film Dangerous Animals. It’s set to hit theaters nationwide tomorrow, June 6th, which is “a gripping, genre-bending survival thriller” from acclaimed director Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones, The Devil’s Candy).

It stars Bingham’s Yellowstone co-star and real life wife Hassie Harrison, along with Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad), and Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy). When Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed killer and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.

After writing “The Weary Kind” for Crazy Heart and “A Song for the Stone” for Yellowstone, this song was obviously written for a completely different genre and type of film, and was recorded with Ryan’s band, The Texas Gentlemen. A departure of sorts from the typical, guitar-driven country folk song that you’d hear from Ryan Bingham, it still features the signature gritty vocals and clever lyricism we’re to used to hearing from him.

Because Bingham’s wife is starring in the movie, he was actually on set for much of the shoot, so that also helped him shape the tone from the ground up and he had a really good grasp on what the sound and feel of it should be.

While maybe a little more cinematic than his other original music, it’s a really cool song, and while obviously music for music for movie soundtrack’s can be iffy at best, this is a winner:

“Be careful what you wish for
Little fishes that you took
There’s blood all in the water
And you just got the hook

No man will ever own her
She’s dangerous
The queen below the water
She’s dangerous
Don’t ever swim above her”

It’s the perfect mix between haunting and eerie to country and true to his roots, and while I can’t say I am dying to see this movie (I will have nightmares for weeks), I will definitely be adding “Dangerous” to my playlist:
