The steamiest interview on the internet right now.
If you may recall, last year, a UK podcast, Girls in Low Places, went viral for a very flirtatious interview with the “Worst Way” singer, Riley Green.
The internet was obsessed with the flirty banter between the host, Katie Atkin, and Green as the two were laying it on thick for each other in a comical but flirtatious way. The interview ended with Riley Green inviting Atkin to Alabama to play with the goats on his farm and to go on a Cracker Barrel date.
“When you come to the US, we’ll go to Cracker Barrel, and you can come by and see the goats. The next interview we do is gonna be at Cracker Barrel. Sounds romantic. That show at Hyde Park was too good to us.”
You have to respect Atkin for shooting her shot with Green, and the result was one of the best interview moments of 2024.
Riley Green is currently overseas on the European leg of his Don’t Mind If I Do tour, which has a stop at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London, England. He’ll play to another sold-out crowd, but in addition to the concerts, he’s been doing tons of press there since he clearly doesn’t get over to the UK as often as he’d probably like.
With Green being across the pond, it led to another Riley Green x Girls In Low Places conversation.
While their following interview did not occur at Cracker Barrel, it was a date, and a very flirtatious one at the least. The two sit at opposite ends of a long table for a cereal date. The two share a bowl of Corn Flakes while wearing Versace robes, and it’s a hilarious bit with Katie Atkin playing into it flawlessly. At one point in the interview, Atkin removes part of her robe to reveal a bit of lingerie, which leaves Riley Green stunned, looking to his manager for help and asking:
“What kind of show is this?”
After that moment, Green hilariously asked Atkin how many times she practices that reveal. Which she wittily responds that she’s done it many times… in her head. The two’s flirty banter leads to some great interview questions, asking about what Riley Green looks for when he’s checking out the girls in the crowd. Atkin used the example of girls singing their hearts out or the mysterious girl reading in the back.
While Green admitted he’s never seen someone reading at his show, he shares that he always gets a good laugh seeing fans wear fake mustaches.
“I’ve seen a lot of fake mustaches. It’s fun… It’s not like my thing. I’m not into it if that’s what you’re asking. I don’t have a drawer full of fake mustaches in the bedroom by the bed, just like, ‘Throw this on, sweetheart.'”
HA.
Atkin then candidly asks Green what his favorite country music song is to have sex to. Green’s answer isn’t what you’d traditionally think of as a ‘let’s get it on” country song, but it’s still a solid choice.
“Oh wow… See, mine’s not fun. Mine would be like ‘I Wouldn’t Be A Man,’ Don Williams. That’s a love song. And you know, back then they got away… it was like it was risky back then. What is it, ‘Behind Closed Doors,’ who is that? Charlie Rich is another good one. They were sneaky dirty back then. Conway Twitty had some dirty songs.”
Riley Green’s pick was a Top 10 hit for Don Williams in 1987, and it was also recorded by Billy Dean in the ’90s, and then perhaps most well known by our readers, was a Top 20 hit for Josh Turner in 2010. I can only imagine Riley putting on the moves to these lyrics.
“I wouldn’t be a man if
I didn’t feel like this I wouldn’t be a man if a woman like you Was anything I could resist I’d have to be from another planet Where love doesn’t exist I wouldn’t be a man if I didn’t feel like this…”Atkins then picks up on the fact that Green enjoys a song that is subtly hinting at wanting to get frisky, versus his steamy tune “Worst Way,” which paints a very vivid picture of what he wants to do with his lover. Green gives a perfect response for the kind of sexy songs he’s into:
“It’s a dirty song your mom still likes.”
Amen to that.
So, ladies, if you want to catch Riley Green’s eye at an upcoming show, put on a fake mustache, but quickly rip it off once you make eye contact, and throw some Don Williams lyrics on a poster board. Or take a page out of Katie Atkins’ book and wear a Versace robe with lingerie while eating a bowl of Corn Flakes. Either way is likely guaranteed to snag the attention of the Alabama native.
