The Swedish star didn’t travel to the Magpies’ pre-season tour to explore his options and consider his future instead. He has told Newcastle he wants to look at a move away from St. James’ Park and personal terms with Liverpool are not expected to be an issue. Losing Isak would be a major blow for Eddie Howe after he scored 23 Premier League goals last season and led them to FA Cup glory. Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa have been linked as potential replacements for the 25-year-old. But Newcastle fan Andy made another suggestion to talkSPORT. He told Stelling and Agbonlahor: “Tell Harry Kane to come back to England and break Alan Shearer’s record at his hometown club.” That bold statement was met with a wide-eyed expression from Stelling and he shared a chuckle with Agonlahor in the studio. Stelling then asked: “What do you think the chances of that are?” “I don’t know, he’s got a decent release clause if a Premier League team comes in for him,” the Geordie supporter replied. It was then pointed out that Kane, who does have a special release clause for English teams, is a very different style striker from Isak. But Sesko and Wissa appear to be more realistic options. Newcastle are pushing to sign RB Leipzig striker Sesko, but talkSPORT understands that Man United have opened talks with him too. It leaves that potential deal up in the air as things stand. As for Wissa, he is currently boycotting training at Brentford as he vies for a move to St. James’ Park. Newcastle have had a bid rejected earlier this summer, but they are willing to raise their bid for the wantaway forward.

talkSPORT understands Newcastle have rejected Liverpool’s opening bid of £120m – which would be a British record – as they desperately try to source a replacement first.

The Swedish star didn’t travel to the Magpies’ pre-season tour to explore his options and consider his future instead.

He has told Newcastle he wants to look at a move away from St. James’ Park and personal terms with Liverpool are not expected to be an issue.
