Over two years in the making, NGHTMRE’s new album MINDFULL arrives with a clear message: heavy bass can carry heavy meaning, too.

The 14-track album, out today on Gud Vibrations, doubles as both a genre showcase and a societal critique. It tackles the modern struggle of living in a world dominated by technology and constant distraction, urging listeners to unplug and be present.

Musically, MINDFULL functions as a microcosm of NGHTMRE’s production career. It opens with “Torch,” a trap heater featuring A$AP Ferg and Bekon, before cranking up the energy with its VIP version, where TRXGGX pushes the arrangement toward the heavier end of the genre.

Drum & bass fans will undoubtedly find enjoyment in “Up Top” with Flowdan and Sully, and “Shadow” with Segan, hayve and Crooked Bangs. Elsewhere, the solo production “Buried a Friend” leans into emotional future bass while “Liar” offers a downtempo reprieve with Sully’s creative touch.

The collaborations give the project its scale. “TYPE SH*T” with Crankdat and Duke Deuce is a festival weapon, while “Everybody Knows” with GorillaT and IRAH doubles down on unrelenting dubstep energy. The titular track with Blanke descends into ominous, cinematic drops, and “Bidar (Awake)” stands out with Middle Eastern-inspired textures between crashing basslines. “Chemicals” with Staysick pairs hypnotic vocals with mind-bending sound design, reinforcing NGHTMRE’s ability to balance maximalism with clarity.

The album’s final track, “Mindful (Outro),” closes with sparse piano and spoken-word reflection, reframing its title as a commentary on a mind filled with distraction rather than peace. It’s a poignant reminder of NGHTMRE’s intent: to be less mind-full and more mindful.
