Feeling the love.
This weekend, Morgan Wallen kicked off his 2025 I’m The Problem tour in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium, and he was visibly emotional speaking to the crowd before playing his popular cover of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up.”
Of course, he released his monster, 37-song album I’m The Problem about a month ago in May, which has since dominated the charts and remained at #1 on the Hot 100 for the four weeks since it has been out, and it will likely remain their this week too. The album debuted at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart, and landed 6 songs in the top 10 of the all-genre Hot 100 upon its release. It also claimed all 10 spots in the top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart, the first time an artist has swept the top 10 spots. Love him or hate him, that’s a wild accomplishment.
His career has become something beyond what I’m sure he ever imagined, and during his first concert of this tour in Houston, Morgan got visibly emotional as he talked about how much his fans support has meant to him over the years.
It’s not his first stadium tour, obviously, but it seemed to make him really emotional standing their taking in the thousands of people there to hear and watch him perform:
“Man, I just thought about everything that it has taken to get to this moment right here, and that wouldn’t be possible without you guys. Your support, man, it means a lot to me, I know it means a lot to my team.
You know, one thing that I miss about playing those smaller places is I could go out onstage every night and and I can pretty much look at every single person in the eyes, and that’s not possibly now, but this is my best attempt to get a little bit closer to it. I’m gonna sing a few songs back here, acoustic style.”
It’s a side we don’t see of him very often, but it’s clear how much all of it means to him:
