Opening up on seven years of marriage to her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.

Miranda Lambert married her Brendan in 2019, when the pair had a secret ceremony in January at a farm near Nashville. She later share the news on Instagram, though kept everything very quiet up until that point and no one even really knew they were dating.

They met when Miranda was doing a segment with her girl band Pistol Annies on Good Morning America, and McLoughlin was working security (he’s a retired NYPD cop) and the rest, as they say, is history.

While he attends events with her here and there, and has appeared in a couple of her music videos over the years, Miranda keeps her relationship pretty private, and they rarely give interviews together or anything like that.

But during a wide-ranging interview with Cowgirl Magazine, Miranda opened up about what their marriage has been like, including how supportive Brendan has been about Miranda taking up a new hobby in horseback riding.

She says they spend a lot of time in New York with Brendan’s son, and he is always willing to tell her the truth, even when it’s hard to hear. It sounds like they’ve found a lot of balance when Miranda is off the road, and she explained that he keeps her “grounded”:

“Brendan is so supportive. I’m so lucky to have him as my husband. He’s from New York City, so this whole world is totally different to him, but he came straight into it. We’re almost at seven years of marriage now. I have a stepson, and we spend a lot of time in New York with him.

We’re kindred spirits, even though we’re from different parts of the country. I feel like I have such a strong support system with him, and he also tells me the truth.

You know, it’s like having somebody at home who can bring you back to Earth and really tell it to you straight, even if it’s sometimes hard to hear. I’m so thankful that he’s willing to come on this journey with me, and this adventure, but also be a grounding spot and a home for me.”

It’s pretty rare that she talks about married life, and I can’t believe they’ve already been married seven years, and even though they come from completely different worlds, they share the important stuff and have that in common, which has seemingly kept them happily married for going on a decade now.

Miranda also discussed her Band Together Texas benefit concert, which helped raise over $8.5 million for flood relief efforts in her home state:

“That’s the river that I grew up floating down since I was born. I mean, I’ve floated the Guadalupe every year since I can remember, and just seeing the devastation and the heartbreaking loss of life, it’s like, I can’t do much, but I can sing. So how can I show up and do something? It’s so important to me.

I’m so thankful Parker McCollum and Cody Johnson, I mean, everybody, Matthew McConaughey, everybody on the bill was just immediately like, ‘Yes, what can we do?’ And, you know, I feel like that’s the real cowboy s***.”

Miranda has always used her platform for noble causes, but that might be the most important thing she’s done yet and it’s heartwarming to see.

In addition, Miranda explained why it’s so important for her to be there for younger artists like Lainey Wilson and Ella Langley, who she wrote a called “Choosin’ Texas” with that’s set to be released this Friday

It’s great to see Miranda lifting up the next generation of country music stars, and obviously, she knows what she’s talking about and has been through it all. That type of experience at her level is hard to find, and I can only imagine how helpful it is for the younger girls to have someone on speed dial who can give them advice for anything and everything when it comes to the craziness that is the music business.

I can’t wait to hear the full version of this song…
