And ex-Republic of Ireland international Cascarino believes that Sesko will be a major upgrade on Hojlund. Speaking on Gameday Breakfast with Natalie Sawyer, he said: “I’d like to defend him, but my honest, gut feeling is I am not sure if he is Premier League level. “At 22, could he develop and become a better player? Of course he could. “But to lead the line for Manchester United is another thing in itself. “Sesko is a far more accomplished player. He is way more two-footed and way more clinical. “Now, he’s 22. He is way ahead of where Rasmus Hojlund is, and Hojlund could become a great player, but I just think Manchester United as a football club are going to move forward, they can’t afford to have trialists because it was £70m bid for potential, but it’s never got there. They only managed 44 goals as a team in the Premier League, and Cascarino feels Hojlund is a player who gives it all. “Rasmus Hojlund has struggled, and you could see it affected his confidence,” the talkSPORT pundit added. “His work rate has always been exceptional, you can’t demand more effort from him. Sesko was presented with a choice between Newcastle and Man United. And after discussions with both clubs, he elected to go for the latter. Speaking to the club’s website, he revealed why he decided to head to Old Trafford. He said: “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. “When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. “From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. “I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben and connecting with my teammates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.” The pressure will be on for Sesko immediately, but Cascarino thinks he’s better equipped to perform than Hojlund.
