Jelly Roll On Trolls Who Call His Wife, Bunnie XO, A Gold Digger: “I Was The Gold Digger”

The true definition of “for richer or poorer.”

Jelly Roll is doing pretty well for himself these days. He’s one of the biggest names in country music, has nine #1 singles in just three years, is currently on tour with Post Malone, was nominated for Entertainer of the Year at both the CMA Awards and the ACM Awards, and has racked up multiple Grammy nominations.

Safe to say things are going alright for Jelly Roll.

But by now everybody knows what he had to overcome before reaching the success that he’s had today. Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, spent a decade in and out of jail after getting arrested for some pretty serious crimes like aggravated robbery and possession with intent to deliver. But while he was locked up, he found out that he had a daughter and decided to turn his life around.

After getting out of jail, he got his start in the music business as an independent rapper, before finally finding success as a country artist in the past few years.

Through it all, he’s had his wife Bunnie Xo by his side.

The couple married in 2016, long before Jelly Roll became a household name. And despite the fact that they were married for years before he achieved his massive success as an artist, there are still plenty of trolls out there who accuse Bunnie of being a “gold digger,” accusing her of only being with her husband for his superstar status and his money. I see it all the time in the comments, and apparently Jelly does too – because a while back, he decided set the record straight.

If you’re not familiar with Bunnie, she’s actually got a pretty incredible story herself. The host of the Dumb Blonde Podcast who’s built up a massive following of her own, she actually started out as a high-end escort in Las Vegas, which is what she was doing when her and Jelly Roll first met.

So as you can imagine, she was making pretty good money – while he was just a struggling artist at the time.

During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast a while back, Jelly Roll discussed being homeless when he first met his wife:

“My wife grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. My wife was a high-end escort her whole life. That’s what she did when I met her.

I was broke. I was living in a 1996 van. Literally. Didn’t have a house. And this woman has like two condos and a few sports cars. She’s f–king BALLING.”

And he got a kick out of people who accuse Bunnie of only staying with him for his money:

“It’s so funny now, the internet when I won these awards, they’re like, ‘This b–ch is a gold digger.’

I was like, ‘I was the gold digger. This woman had so much money.'”

This power couple definitely has one of the most interesting backstories in country music right now. But whatever you want to say about them, you definitely can’t say Bunnie is a gold digger – because she was there when he was broke and living in a van too.
