The only problem? Nobody can understand what she’s saying.
Take a listen for yourself:
@ejtork also yes i forgot to wash off my mascara lol #fyppppppp
And it seems like no matter where they’re from, whether it’s the deepest hollers or the big city, nobody can quite figure out what she’s saying:
@jas.nicole.1 I’m sorry what? #countrymusic #fyp
@imburningatthestake I think this is how English sounds to people who don’t speak it, lmao I can’t really decipher a single word
A lot of people think that it’s what English sounds like to non-English speakers (there was actually a song called “Prisencolinensinainciusol” released in 1972 by Italian singer Italian singer Adriano Celentano that was complete gibberish but was written to represent what English sounds like to people who don’t speak it).
But there were also a lot of people who were accusing Brooks of overexaggerating her accent for the song, leading to some confusion with the lyrics.
Now, I’m from West Virginia. I can listen to Jesco and Mamie White and understand every word they say. It always cracks me up when television shows have to put subtitles on people from the south because people can’t understand them.
But no matter how many times I listened to that song, I couldn’t figure out what in the world she was saying.
My best guess was something like:
“When you fart I yell
You leave our room just to make a baguette
And that mid tier wax lifts off my tongue and
Daddy whisperin'”
Close enough I guess?
And honestly, it’s a pretty good song. She’s got a great voice. I just have no idea what the hell she’s saying. And all across TikTok people are giving their own guesses on what Brooks is saying:
“Cause we fart, I yell, you leave
I hunger to make up a pig
And that big drip wax slips off my tongue and then your a-s sprays”
A perfectly reasonable interpretation.
@onethreadmama Replying to @MarlanaMonad333 this is what I will hear forever now thank you omg I’m
