Ice Nine Kills Jack Into the Matrix with Latest Single “The Great Unknown”

Fresh off their long run on Metallica’s M72 World Tour, the dudes in Ice Nine Kills have seemingly refocused their image a bit for the release of “The Great Unknown”, opting for more Keanu Reeves in The Matrix instead of their constant horror worship of Terrifier‘s Art the Clown. But it makes sense when you consider how easily they doubled down on the use of A.I. art.

Earlier today, the incredibly popular metalcore/melodic hardcore act released the aforementioned single and its accompanying music video. Hence the description of it replicating the iconic sci-fi movie series from the Wachowski sisters.

Speaking of the track and music video, INK frontman Spencer Charnas described the new single like it was a piece of new plug-and-play tech.

“‘The Great Unknown’ optimizes aggression and melody in a format our core user base consistently engages with. This audio file represents a genre expansion protocol, targeting action and sci-fi verticals proven effective via cross-platform sentiment analysis. ‘The Great Unknown’ is designed to seamlessly interface with current simulation conditions, as categorical boundaries between fact and fiction, organic and synthetic, continue to experience accelerated erosion.”

We’ll have to see if this is just a glitch in the Matrix or if this new image is here to stay for Ice Nine Kills. Either way, you can catch them live at any of the shows listed below.
