A couple of country music legends cutting it up for a good cause.
We’re almost a month removed from the tragic flooding that devastated South-Central Texas over the 4th of July weekend. Over 130 people have been confirmed deceased, with many of those numbers tragically coming from Camp Mystic – a Christian girls camp located in Texas Hill Country that it is currently grieving the unfathomable loss of 27 campers and counselors.
Ever since the devastating waters rose and caused so much death and destruction, many have wondered how they can help. We’ve seen a number of benefit concerts put together by some of the biggest country music artists in the business, and one of those took place this past weekend – and it didn’t disappoint.
George Strait organized and hosted his “Strait To The Heart” concert and dinner on Sunday, which set out to directly benefit Texas flood victims. The “King of Country” held the special event in Estancia at the Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas, and the intimate show was capped at 1,000 guests, with tickets for the concert starting at $1,000.
Though the night featured plenty of musical performances, the focus was to raise money for the Hill Country victims that still so desperately need help all these weeks later. Every single dollar that was raised by “Strait To The Heart” will be donated and given directly to families that have been impacted by the flooding.
Which means that fortunate fans who were there for the concert got to enjoy a live rendition of Strait’s “Amarillo By Morning” that much more, knowing that their entry fee to the event will help those who are still picking up the pieces from the natural disaster:
There were plenty of surprises during the proceedings of “Strait To The Heart,” but the one that evidently stole the show was the presence of the one and only Garth Brooks. Seeing George Strait in a venue that only holds 1,000 people is special, but seeing both him and Garth Brooks is something that’s rarity can’t be put into words.
Strait and Brooks are selling out stadiums, and those at the benefit concert got to see them in about as small of a venue as either will play at this point in their careers.
About midway through the concert and dinner, Garth Brooks was announced as a surprise guest, and he came out and gifted those in attendance with a plethora of his greatest hits. At one point, Garth cued up “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old),” and the crowd at the Estancia at the Thunder Valley indoor arena was absolutely loving it.
Take a look:
Pretty cool to see George Strait and Garth Brooks in the same night. Those that attended “Strait To The Heart” will certainly feel like they got their money’s worth, especially with all proceeds going to a good cause.
You love to see country music being a catalyst in the Texas flood relief efforts. Shoutout to the George Strait and Garth Brooks and the rest of the artists included in the “Strait To The Heart” lineup for acting fast and not hesitating to help those in need during this difficult time in Texas.
Boerne resident, Greg Davis, shared some details on the night, and revealed that George and company have raised over $6.5 million so far… and the number is only going up.
