Fisherman Tosses Hefty Catfish Up Into The Air & Massive Eagle Has No Issue Snatching It With Its Talons

One of the most impressive games of catch I’ve ever seen. Australia is a crazy place. There’s just no other way to describe it. I’ve personally never been, and to be honest with you, all of the wild footage I’ve seen from the continent (in addition to the 100-plus poisonous snakes that live there) doesn’t make me want to go anytime soon. Australia is a crazy place. There’s just no other way to describe it. I’ve personally never been, and to be honest with you, all of the wild footage I’ve seen from the continent (in addition to the 100-plus poisonous snakes that live there) doesn’t make me want to go anytime soon.

Though this type of wild footage is intriguing, to say the least.

I don’t know if you’ve ever come across Trek’n Australia, but it’s a social media account (worth following) dedicated to the life and adventures of a family that lives full-time on the road. They do plenty of fun things as they travel across the Land Down Under, and recently, they were up in Northern territory of the country doing some fishing and crab-trapping.

Color me surprised, because I found out today that Australia has catfish. I’m not sure why I didn’t think that catfish would live in the only country that’s also a continent. I suppose I just assumed that Australia had plenty of other wild-looking creatures within its borders.

Sure enough, catfish are alive and well in Australia, as proven by one of the latest videos from Trek’n Australia. Well… this catfish was alive, until the main man of the entertainment channel (I believe his name his Mark) decided to donate his catch to an eagle that was circling their boat.

Now it’s important to point out that this catfish is not small in stature. It’s a hefty fish that’s clearly got some weight to it. That being said, it apparently wasn’t too heavy for the eagle to snatch right out of the air without skipping a beat. The face of Trek’n Australia tossed the sizable catfish up into the air, and the predatory bird timed the catch perfectly, digging its talons into the fish and majestically flying away.

You’ve likely heard of catch and release… but have you ever seen catch, release, and then catch again?

That right there is absolutely electric (and the And-1 shorts the guy is wearing really ties everything together… a true baller).

We’ve come across plenty of bird-picks-up-fish videos here at Whiskey Riff to know that even the largest of eagles and falcons sometimes fail to pick up substantial fish and stay airborne with them. I honestly expected to see this eagle struggle once it made the catch… but it didn’t. Guess the birds are just built different down in Australia, eh?

Trek’n Australia also shared some snapshots of the moment on their social media page, and apparently had a decent day trapping mud crabs as well:

“What a ripper day! Caught plenty of mud crab, got to feed an eagle not once… but twice. We fed him this catfish. What a catch!”

Man… I’ve got to add “ripper day” into my lexicon. Can’t imagine going out to a bar with my buddies and telling the wife we’re having a “ripper time.” It’s quite possibly the coolest way to explain having a good time, and it’s all thanks to this Australian man for teaching me his ripper ways. The post Fisherman Tosses Hefty Catfish Up Into The Air & Massive Eagle Has No Issue Snatching It With Its Talons first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
