After completing the signing of Kepa earlier this week, Arsenal have now completed the paperwork to complete another deal.
Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Christian Nørgaard from Brentford, with all paperwork now exchanged between the clubs, according to trusted reporter Fabrizio Romano. The Danish midfielder will join Mikel Arteta’s squad as expected, bringing experience, composure, and tactical intelligence to the Gunners’ engine room.
Nørgaard, 31, has been a key figure for Brentford since their promotion to the Premier League. Known for his positional discipline, work rate, and intelligent ball distribution, he captained the Bees last season and has made over 140 appearances for the club. His leadership and consistency in defensive midfield have made him one of the most underrated anchormen in the league.
Despite reported interest from Tottenham, Nørgaard made it clear that Arsenal was his only destination. According to @Teamnewsandtix: “Tottenham did want Christian Norgaard. Thomas Frank absolutely loves him, he can’t stop singing his praises, but Norgaard only wanted Arsenal, he wasn’t going to listen to anything else.” This level of commitment will no doubt endear him to the Emirates faithful from the outset.
Martin Zubimendi is also set to be announced as a new signing on Thursday, as Mikel Arteta reshapes the heart of his midfield after Jorginho and Thomas Partey were released.
Mikel Arteta is believed to view Nørgaard as a valuable addition to a midfield group that could undergo some changes this summer. With his experience in both the Premier League and international football — boasting 35 caps for Denmark — Nørgaard provides depth and reliability in the base of midfield.
The move also reflects the strategic influence of Arsenal’s new transfer chief Andrea Berta, who has overseen a fast start to the Gunners’ summer business. Nørgaard’s signing bolsters Arsenal’s squad depth ahead of another intense season across multiple competitions.
With the deal now complete, Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing Nørgaard in red and white — and perhaps even in their ideal starting XI.
