Evanescence Performed “Afterlife” at The Game Awards, Reminding Gamers What 2003 Felt Like
Season two of the Devil May Cry anime on Netflix is coming soon. The post Evanescence Performed “Afterlife” at The Game Awards, Reminding Gamers What 2003 Felt Like appeared first on MetalSucks.
Amidst all the new game announcements, trailers, advertisements, and occasional award reveals at last night’s Game Awards, early 2000s nostalgia bait outfit Evanescence took the stage to perform their single “Afterlife”. It wasn’t necessarily to promote anything they’ve got going on — though their world tour was mentioned by host Geoff Keighley — but more to hype up the second season of the Devil May Cry anime on Netflix.
All joking aside, it was a pretty cool performance. The production level awarded to Amy Lee and the rest of the band at a show dedicated to video games was pretty damn high, as it really looked like they were doing their best to make the performance look epic. I mean, they gave ’em pyro and advanced camera maneuvers, while clips from the anime played on the massive screen behind them the whole time.
So yeah, if you’re so inclined you should check out the performance below. You can also check out a new version of “Afterlife” featuring a remix by Gunship, which was released after the Game Awards performance.
As for that aforementioned 2026 world tour, Evanescence will share the stage with Spiritbox and Nova Twins for the North American leg, while Poppy will join with Nova Twins for the European run. Poppy and K.Flay will open for the U.K. shows. You can find the full list of dates below.
