What was ESPN’s Adam Schefter thinking on this one?
There’s a whole industry built around getting inside information first. Outlets all have their go-to guy (or gal) that does their best to “scoop” stories before they are well known, using connections to find things out before anyone else does. And for ESPN, their ace is Adam Schefter.
Occasionally, Schefter goes on shows or podcasts to talk about the latest in the sports world. If you ever watch any of his appearances, you’ll likely notice that he’s always got his phone out, constantly wheeling and dealing info that could or could not be valuable to ESPN.
And lately, he’s also been busy giving some rather questionable and absurd takes, like this latest incident revolving around ex-Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore.
The college football world was shocked yesterday afternoon when the University of Michigan announced they were firing head coach Sherrone Moore with cause. It seemed somewhat out of the maize and blue, considering the head coach wasn’t on the hot seat… until the news broke that the firing was because of inappropriate conduct off the football field.
According to a statement from Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, Moore was fired for cause after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer for the Wolverines football team
“Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
What makes matters worse? Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli, for a decade, and the couple have three children together.
Shortly after news of Moore’s firing broke, even more concerning headlines were made, as the former Michigan Wolverines head coach was detained by police in Saline, Michigan and turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department “for investigation into potential charges” of assault. There’s all kinds of rumors flying around as to why, but for now, nothing has been confirmed. With Michigan being a public university, employee salaries are made available to the public, and the staffer in question also seems to have a received a whopping 55% percent pay raise, from $58,025 in 23/24 to $99,000 in the 24/25 season.
The news on this story has been coming in fast, and one of the news breakers that’s been on top of it has been ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He helped break some of the initial reports yesterday, but then this morning, he had a very strange take about how the world should wait to hear Sherrone Moore’s side of the story:
“What we haven’t heard yet is Sherrone Moore’s side of this. And he gets his say in this particular situation as well. I do know he felt like people had it in for him for an awful long time while he was at Michigan. He felt like there were people that were out to get him.
It’s possible that yes, Michigan does have evidence that he had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. And it could be that Sherrone Moore was right, and that people had it out for him. The whole situation itself is just sad and tragic.”
So let me get this straight… Adam Schefter is getting onto people for running with a story while he himself also runs with a story of his own?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Schefter apparently thinks that we should hear Moore’s side of the story. Why? That all of this could be… a setup? Seems like a bold take, considering Michigan put out an official statement saying he was fired with cause after an intensive investigation. I’m not sure the world does need to hear Moore’s side of the story if the story is pretty straightforward: He cheated on his wife with a woman that was on his staff (innuendo intended), and then allegedly rewarded her with a massive salary increase. What could his side of the story possibly offer?
That’s why Adam Schefter is getting roasted online right now:
Wow Adam do better. They had it in for him so much that he got hired as full time coach? They supported Michigan and him as coach? 2 people doing immoral actions which might destroy an innocent family seemed to be more the problem. pic.twitter.com/O8n67OvXjh

Adam missing the most important part of this which is the likely soon to be ex-Mrs. Moore and the kids who have had their lives torn apart. Sherrone is a grown man who made choices that have consequences, his wife and certainly his kids didn’t ask for this.

My, how far Schefter has fallen.

Lol. Sure. Having it in for him is believable. Maybe they paid the staffer to entice him to an affair, have him get her pregnant, keep it quiet until after signing day, then have it come out so they could have an excuse to fire him.
I’ve seen it a hundred times— Coach A (@Gorgood66) December 11, 2025

Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the obvious here… Schefter went to Michigan, he’s a Michigan man. But c’mon Schefty… there’s no defending this. He’s not the victim here. The post ESPN’s Adam Schefter Gets Roasted For Insisting That We Should Wait To Hear Ex-Michigan Head Coach, Sherrone Moore’s, Side Of The Story first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
