Amber Heard has kept a pretty low profile since her very public legal battle and trial with her ex-husband, actor Johnny Depp.

The actress, whose career includes roles in movies like Justice League, Aquaman and Pineapple Express, was sued by Depp for defamation back in 2019 after Heard wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post accusing him of abuse. Heard ultimately filed a countersuit, and the competing litigation resulted in a VERY public trial back in 2022 that captivated the internet.

During the trial, Depp argued that he was the real victim of abuse, and many of the details that came out didn’t paint Heard in a flattering light – like his allegations that she had once taken a dump on his bed.

In the end, a jury ultimately found in favor of Depp after Heard was widely ridiculed for her testimony. Depp was awarded $15 million in damages (though the $5 million he was awarded in punitive damages was reduced to $350,000 due to limits imposed by state law), while Heard was awarded $2 million in damages on her counterclaim.

Heard vowed to appeal after her attorneys said she didn’t have the ability to pay the verdict, but both sides ultimately ended up settling with Heard agreeing to pay Depp $1 million that he vowed to donate to charity.

Since then, Heard has kept a low profile, no doubt wanting to stay out of the public eye after receiving so much criticism and backlash during the trial.

The actress briefly dated Elon Musk back in 2017, but has also been in relationships with several women since coming out as bisexual in 2010. She welcomed her first child via surrogacy back in 2021, and in December of last year announced that she was again expecting a child, giving birth to twins earlier this month.

Heard has largely given up acting, moving to Madrid, Spain to live a quieter life after the public embarrassment of the trial with her ex-husband. But she hasn’t entirely given up on her career, and is still reportedly eyeing a return to Hollywood at some point.

But her acting career isn’t just on the big screen: As it turns out, Heard’s first role as an actress was actually starring in a Kenny Chesney music video.

Heard played the lead role in the music video for “There Goes My Life,” Kenny’s 2003 hit from his When the Sun Goes Down album about a teen who’s blindsided when his high school girlfriend tells him that he’s pregnant, only for that baby that he thought was going to ruin his life to become his whole world.

The song spent seven weeks at #1, and to this day it’s still one of Kenny’s best songs. And who plays the grown daughter in the video? None other than Johnny Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard.

I guess we know what happened to the daughter after she went off to college now…

Heard hasn’t said much about her role in the movie, but the actress who plays the high school girlfriend, Meredith McCoy, discussed appearing with the now-infamous actress in the music video – and admitted she didn’t put two and two together until the high-profile trial:

“She’s playing my daughter in that, and I had no idea. I didn’t know that, but my brother-in-law texted me and was like, ‘Did you know you’ve met Amber Heard?’ 

I’m like, ‘I have? When did I meet Amber Heard?’ It was her first acting job. So we were in the Kenny Chesney “There Goes My Life” video.

A small claim to fame. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Maybe not so much.”

Of course Johnny Depp has made his own appearances in country music videos, popping up in Johnny Cash’s video for “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.”
