Deftones

Not sure if you’ve been keeping up with Deftones lately, but they’ve been getting ready for something big. They recently announced their new album called Private Music, which is set to come out soon, on August 22. Before it officially hits the masses ears, the band has set up a way for people to get a private listen to it first, in quite a vibey way.

The band is working with Pitchblack Playback for some live listening parties. The catch? Well, it’s probably not much of a catch considering who the Deftones are as a band and the name of Pitchblack Playback in general—attendees will be listening to the new record “in complete darkness” on a “premiere sound system.” Told you it was vibey.

So far, 12 of the world’s largest cities are planning on hosting the listening parties, but it is not yet known if more cities or dates will be added. Among those cities are Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, and Mexico City, but you can check out the full list of cities and corresponding party dates below. If you wanna go, you gotta sign up here!

Private Music listening parties:

August 19: Amsterdam and Mexico City

August 20: Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, New York City, Sacramento, Sydney, Toronto, and Vancouver

August 21: Berlin and Paris

Not only is Private Music the first album Deftones have released since 2020’s Ohms, but it’s also the record debut for the band’s newest member Fred Sabian, the bassist/vocalist that took over for Sergio Vega after he left the band in 2022.

It’s also worth noting that Private Music will be the recording debut of the band’s new bassist/vocalist Fred Sabian, who was chosen to take over the spot left vacant by Sergio Vega’s 2022 exit from the band. From what we’ve heard so far, since they also just released their new single “milk of the madonna,” it sounds like this one will be one for the books.
