Crystal Palace could be forced to reluctantly sell Marc Guehi this summer. That is the admission of chairman Steve Parish with just three weeks left in the transfer window. Palace could consider selling Guehi before the end of the summer transfer windowGetty Parish admitted the club may be forced into a sale with Guehi in the final year of his dealGetty Guehi is into the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and has previously been ready to leave on a free transfer next summer. However, Parish admits the club could consider a sale this month in order to recoup a fee. The England international played the full 90 minutes as Palace won the Community Shield on Sunday. Oliver Glasner’s side followed up their FA Cup win by beating Liverpool on penalties at Wembley Stadium. Following the match, Parish was asked if he would entertain tempting bids for the likes of Guehi in the closing weeks of the window. He explained, via ESPN: “Yes. I mean, we’d have to, of course. For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem. No doubt about it, unfortunately. “We had one bid [last summer] but Joachim [Andersen] went [to Fulham] and we couldn’t afford to lose both of them. “We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation as well, and the player had a point of view on that one. “So we just have to see what happens but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.” Who could sign Guehi? Newcastle previously failed in their attempts to sign Guehi prior to the start of last season and could reignite their interest in the 25-year-old. Guehi has previously attracted interest from Newcastle and LiverpoolGetty Parish has also hinted at further signings to bolster Glasner’s squadGetty Meanwhile, Liverpool have also been tipped as potential suitors for the defender. Since joining the Eagles from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has made 156 appearances across all competitions. Palace have also faced considerable interest from Arsenal in midfielder Eberechi Eze this summer. Parish continued: “I think in the end, people trade players. That’s what football clubs do. “If you just don’t care about reinvigorating the team, you don’t care about tomorrow, ever, you just put it all off. “Then, we’re a fantastic team, you know and if we had four more players, I don’t know what we could achieve but unfortunately it’s not always as simple as that.” Palace’s stance on signings He also revealed their could be further additions to Glasner’s squad before the window closes on September 1, though. Parish added: “We’ll have to see. We’ll do whatever we can. We won’t stop working and we will do whatever we can. “But as far as people being here or not being here, it depends. If it’s the right decision for the football club and for them, nobody can make anyone go, then there will be some changes, but you’ve got to make smart ones.” Palace have made just two signings so far this summer, with Walter Benitez and Borna Sosa arriving for a combined £2m.
