Bad news for the Cody Jinks fans who were hoping to see him over the 4th of July weekend.
While the United States will be celebrating Independence Day, Cody Jinks was supposed to be crossing the border, bringing his Texas outlaw sound to Canada—emphasis on the word supposed.
Jinks was scheduled to play two shows over the weekend, on the 4th and 5th, in Abbotsford, BC, and Kelowna, BC; however, he has shared with a heavy heart that he is canceling the shows. The “Must Be The Whiskey” singer shared on social media that he has to cancel the shows due to Canadian border officials not allowing his production trucks through.
“While attempting to cross the border into Canada, my production trucks were forced to turn around and head back to the United States by the Canada Border Services Agency. Getting them into Canada was made a logistic impossibility despite following all the prescribed procedures given to us.
I had to make the difficult decision to cancel the shows on July 4th and 5th. It is incredibly important to me that everyone who spends their hard-earned money to see a show gets the absolute best experience possible, and right now, that standard just can’t be met without my trucks. It kills me to have to do this because putting on these shows for you guys has always been the greatest joy of my career, but unfortunately, my hands are tied.
Refunds will be automatically credited to the original method of payment within 30 days.”
Production trucks can carry a wide array of equipment, ranging from instruments like guitars, microphones, drums, and keyboards to audio and visual production equipment, including mixing boards, monitors, video displays, and more.
While it’s unclear what those trucks were carrying, or possibly who was driving that made them get rejected at the border, but it’s apparent that they were holding essential equipment for Cody Jinks’ show and that he was not comfortable putting on a bare-bones performance. It’s heartbreaking for the ticket holders, but Jinks is doing the right thing by ensuring that everyone gets a full refund, and I’m sure he will find a way to bring his music across the border, allowing him to put on the show of his dreams.
On the bright side, hopefully, Jinks can spend some time with his family shooting off fireworks and celebrating our nation. You wanna be on American soil for America’s birthday, right? Not the worst turn of events if you ask me…
Before you go, fire up his latest single “The Others.”
