Twenty-three year-old Caicedo has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, yet sources close the player told talkSPORT he is not looking to leave Chelsea, nor are Chelsea willing to listen to offers, however high. Caicedo’s contract runs until summer 2031 with the option of a further year, meaning Chelsea hold all the cards. The expectation is Caicedo will now be rewarded with fresh terms following a superb 2024/25 season. This has been Chelsea’s plan since the end of last season and is not a reaction to Caicedo’s change of agent. But given Caicedo’s deal has six years remaining, there is no guarantee a new contract will be offered. But Caicedo deserves his plaudits, and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is a huge fan – insisting he can follow in the footsteps of club icons N’Golo Kante and Claude Makelele. Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, he said: “They (Kante and Makelele) were both amazing. Gravenberch is competition for Caicedo as the best midfielder in the Premier LeagueGetty “I played with Maka obviously and he was a different type to N’Golo, because N’Golo could really get around, whereas Maka basically sat in front a lot. “But I see because of the style of play, he (Caicedo) can do the Makelele break-up stuff really, really well, close down space really quickly. “Now he’s shown last season and this, that he’s got the sort of Kante bits in his game because N’Golo could do that, could arrive at the edge of the box and score. “What he’s got to do now is just turn out consistently for the next season and hopefully try and win things with Chelsea. “It (the comparison) makes sense, he’s doing really well.” And ex-Liverpool and Fulham star Danny Murphy is a huge fan, saying on Kick-Off: ““Caicedo’s been outstanding.
