Charley Crockett Covers “Bad Company” For Rock Band’s 50th Anniversary Tribute Album

I’ll be honest… I didn’t ever expect to hear Charley Crockett’s version of “Bad Company.” The Texas native has always done things his own way, mixing the stylings of country and blues to craft his very signature and personal sound. And might I add that the man stays busy? Since 2015, Crockett has released over 15 albums, with his most recent projects being $10 Cowboy, $10 Cowboy Chapter II – Visions of Dallas and his 2025 releases Lonesome Drifter and Dollar A Day. I’ll be honest… I didn’t ever expect to hear Charley Crockett’s version of “Bad Company.”

The Texas native has always done things his own way, mixing the stylings of country and blues to craft his very signature and personal sound. And might I add that the man stays busy? Since 2015, Crockett has released over 15 albums, with his most recent projects being $10 Cowboy, $10 Cowboy Chapter II – Visions of Dallas and his 2025 releases Lonesome Drifter and Dollar A Day.

Both of those 2025 releases have been riddled with hits, in my personal opinion.

There aren’t many like Charley Crockett in the music industry. He’s faced some criticism amidst his recent feuds with other country stars like Morgan Wallen and Gavin Adcock, but I don’t think Crockett has picked any of those fights in bad taste. Seems like he’s just sticking up for music, which makes sense considering that’s all he’s focused on (good, quality songs) ever since he dropped his debut album back in 2015.

It’s through his hard work and consistent way of going about music that he’s experienced a well-deserved surge in popularity as of late. And it’s also why he got the opportunity to cover one of the most well-known rock and roll songs of all time for an upcoming project that is honoring the rock supergroup Bad Company.

Charley Crockett, along with other artists like The Pretty Reckless, Slash, The Struts, Hardy, and Def Leppard, all pitched in to help celebrate a) Bad Company’s 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and b) the 50th anniversary of the iconic band. Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company is set to release on October 24th, and one of the songs that’s been released prior to that full album drop is Crockett’s take on the band’s hit of the same name of their group: “Bad Company.”

The all-time classic song found a home on the band’s debut record, Bad Company, in 1974. Bad Company’s lead singer, Paul Rodgers, and the group’s drummer, Simon Kirke, wrote the track together. Though it never peaked at No. 1 on any of the charts (crazy, right?), it’s become known over the years as Bad Company’s signature song… which kind of makes sense with the track sharing the same name as the band and the debut album.

Though it’s a song that many of us have probably heard 100 times, I can assure you that you’ve never heard it like this. Charley Crockett didn’t necessarily countrify the track, but he did apply his unmistakable vocals, which gave it a rocking-country-crooner type of sound. “Bad Company” stretched Crockett’s vocal abilities in a way that, for my money, hasn’t been displayed that much in other areas of the artist’s work.

I’m sure it was a daunting song to take on, especially considering it was for a tribute album that features so many other big names paying their respects to the rock and roll band. That being said, it wasn’t anything that Charley Crockett couldn’t handle. He got in the studio and took care of business, and provided an extremely respectful rendition of the class rock anthem that certainly fits within his outlaw-esque catalogue.
