Aaron Rodgers Says He “Did A Joe Biden” At NFL Preseason Game When He Couldn’t Find Any Players He Knew
Aaron Rodgers may have lost a step out on the field, but his wit is as quick as ever. Aaron Rodgers may have lost a step out on the field, but his wit is as quick as ever.
I know we’ve officially entered into Rodgers’ Pittsburgh Steelers era (and potential farewell tour), but I still think it’s crazy how fast the 41-year-old quarterback went from messiah to scapegoat in New York. Remember how excited Jets fans were when Rodgers signed with the team in 2023?
The year prior, “Gang Green” was described as a “quarterback away” from Super Bowl contention. Then they ended up chasing the very quarterback that they got to fix everything… away. Because that’s just what the Jets do. It was announced this past Super Bowl Sunday that the New York Jets had officially decided to part ways with Aaron Rodgers, only two years after they gave him the keys and trusted him to return the struggling team to glory.
The first season was obviously a wash because of Rodgers’ season-ending injury he suffered a mere four snaps into his Jets tenure. But apparently New York didn’t see enough in year two to bring back the aging quarterback, even though he had some solid stats to go with the Jets’ 5-12 record.
So now, after the aging quarterback took some time to really test the waters and see who in the NFL was interested in his services, Rodgers finds himself suiting up in the black and gold. He’s a Pittsburgh Steeler… and it just looks weird. For some reason the Jets green wasn’t that bad of a look on him, but I suppose it was closer to the Green Bay’s colors that he sported for almost two decades.
Speaking of, it’s no secret that Rodgers is nearing the end of his career. He’s currently the oldest player in the NFL, and he’s made it known that this upcoming season is likely his swan song. And like a college student taking a fifth or six year to finish up their degree, Rodgers is starting to look around and realize… he doesn’t know anyone anymore.
And if he does, they’ve already transitioned to coaching or administrative roles within other organizations.
Rodgers spoke about that very thing when he talked with the media today, and also dropped a hilarious Joe Biden joke that he was likely stowing away to utilize when the time was right. And the time evidently was right as he discussed the Steelers preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars from this past weekend.
The 41-year-old QB (he’ll turn 42 in December) pointed out that most of his former colleagues are out of the league, which makes him feel old… which in turn makes him feel a bit like former President Joe Biden:
“One of the weird things is I’m 21 years in the league so I’m over there (asking myself), ‘Who do I know on Jacksonville?’ I know Heath Farwell, special teams coach, I played against him. I know Chad Morgan, he was with us. And I’ve met Trevor a few times.
So I was kind of looking around doing the Joe Biden and was like, ‘Alright, well I guess I don’t know anybody here, so I’m just gonna walk off.’ I found Cam Heyward and TJ Watt and huddled up next to them.”
