Bringing that good ol’ American tipping culture across the pond.

This past weekend, Zach Bryan was in Dublin, Ireland, for a series of shows at Phoenix Park, and he’ll head over to London this weekend for his headlining slots at BST Hyde Park. He debuted a pretty stellar new hairline in Dublin, and while I enjoyed the jokes about him “stopping in Turkey” on the way to Ireland, it looks good… good for him. Zach also capped off the weekend by teaming up with Irish singer Dermot Kennedy, a phenomenal talent in his own right, for a stellar rendition of “Hey Driver,” that had Irish fans screaming every word along with them.

But perhaps one of the most special moments of the weekend… happened off stage.

According to the Irish Independent, Zach Bryan stopped by a local pub in Dublin (I’m sure he stopped by many of them) for a few pints with the lads, and offered up a generous tip to the staff to help them pay for college. We’re talking a whopping 6,000 Euros, which clocks in at about $7,000.

Pub owner, Noel Tynan, says Bryan went straight to his pub, The Celt, with his entire team and crew the second he landed. They invited a local Irish band, Chasing Abbey, to the pump up party as well:

“When he came off the plane the first day, he came literally straight to The Celt and he had his wind-up party here. He had about 100 in his team, so they were all there, and we also had Chasing Abbey from Tullamore – they’re pretty well-known themselves, they dropped in and played. Zach also got up and played a few songs himself, which was great.”

When a staffer mentioned to Bryan that they were working there to pay for college, Zach

“One of the staff members just happened to pass a remark about working late, said he has to because he has to pay for his fees for college, and Zach said he might be able to help him. So, he said to me, ‘How much will I leave?’ And I said, ‘Leave a million.’ I was joking – I didn’t think anything would be left! He said, ‘How about four grand? And I said how about 10?’ I was just joking; I wasn’t expecting him to leave anything.

And he said, ‘Tell you what – we’ll meet in the middle. We’ll make it six.’ So, he just left €6,000. And he also gave me two tickets for his weekend show to give to the children’s hospital in Crumlin. He’s a very generous fella.”

Stay classy, Zach.

After this run of shows, he came back to the bar to close it down on Sunday night:

“He came in on Sunday night to celebrate finishing the gigs, he sang a load of songs even after performing all weekend. To show his generosity, he brought me on stage and everything – so I was beside him when he was doing the last number. He was there two years ago as well and his father has been back a number of times in Dublin, so I’m starting to get to know them pretty well.”

Ol’ son is a regular… living the dream. I mean, there’s nothing quite like sipping on a few pints in a traditional Irish pub… no TVs, no nonsense, just good live music, good friends, and good times for all… sounds like ZB had himself a time across the pond.

It’s become pretty commonplace for people to hate on Zach, whether people just angry he blew up, or they buy everything Brianna Chickenfry has ever said about him, but he’s consistently proven to be a man of the people. He may still be learning how to navigate this journey of extreme fame and fortune, and adapting to having his life under microscope after virtually becoming a world class superstar in just a few years, but he’s seemingly always trying to return some form of gratitude to the fans who have made him into the superstar that he is. I respect that.
