Unhinged Beyoncé Fans Accuse Lainey Wilson Of Copying Her 2024 NFL Christmas Halftime Show Look

Catching some heat from the always sane members of the… Beyhive.

Several days ago, Lainey Wilson joined Snoop Dogg during his halftime performance at the Christmas Day game at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which included several other artists in Netflix’s KPOP Demon Hunters.

It was a pretty cute performance, albeit a very random group of artists, but Lainey is drawing some criticism from Beyoncé fans who felt it looked a little too familiar…

Last year, Beyoncé headlined the Christmas Day halftime show during the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens game, which was also broadcast live on Netflix, just like this Lainey performance. Her show featured songs from her Cowboy Carter album, and included a guest appearance by Post Malone.

Beyoncé wore an all-white outfit with a white cowboy hat, and this year, Lainey did have on a similar outfit… but it is Christmas, and plenty of ladies break out the winter whites this time of year so I think that was probably just a coincidence. Also, let’s not forget who is the actual country music singer here, and who is the one playing cowgirl dress up…

There’s only so much you can do to switch it up at Christmas, and considering Netflix produced Bey’s halftime show as well, it’s not that surprising that there were some similarities… if anything, it’s on the production crew to make sure something like this doesn’t happen, not Lainey herself. She was a featured artist on what was billed as Snoop Dogg’s halftime show. And with Snoop wearing red, Lainey in white was the obvious choice.

Lainey previously lost the Grammy award to Beyoncé in the Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter, which was her first nomination in the category, earlier this year.

She was up against Lainey of course with Whirlwind, as well as Post Malone with F-1 Trillion, Kacey Musgraves with Deeper Well, Chris Stapleton with Higher. Beyoncé also won the coveted Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter, as well as Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus.

While I have to imagine that deep down it’s sad to lose a big award (Lainey is human, after all), she was honest in saying that she never could’ve dreamed her career up like this, and she’s never been in it just to have “shiny stuff up on the shelf”:

“Not for me at all, just because at the end of the day, when I first started doing this and dreaming about doing this, I never in a million years was thinking, like, I’m doing this just for the awards. You know, just to have the shiny stuff up on the shelf. I’m doing this to play shows and put butts in seats and make people feel something.”

Lainey also talked about getting to meet Beyoncé at the show, noting that it’s exciting in a way to have people like her, as well as Post Malone and others, getting in on country because it’s so popular right now in the mainstream in a way it never really has been before. To quote Lainey exactly, “country’s on fire right now”:

“So I got an opportunity to meet her at the Grammys, and I walked up to her like 7 foot tall security guy and I’m like, ‘Can I meet her?’ We both share a deep appreciation for what each other does and I think that she’s introduced a lot of people to the country genre that maybe ever even knew that they liked it, and country’s on fire right now.”

So I certainly don’t think there’s any bad blood between them at all… in fact, it sounds like a lot of admiration.

But that didn’t stop Beyoncé fans from coming for Lainey, accusing her of copying Beyoncé’s look and stealing the ideas from her show last Christmas for this one:

“So, once again… they copied Beyoncé

“Baby, I swear it’s Deja vu.

“Beyoncé, you will always be famous.”

“She couldn’t get that Grammy so she just stole her show.”

“I feel like ……………. I’ve seen this before.”

“So y’all copied and pasted last years performance? Got it.”

“She stole Beyonce’s Looks!! Omfg.”

“That’s why they were so scared when Beyoncé dropped a country album… their fav are so mediocre they can’t compete with her.”

“This is literally what Beyoncé did last year lol.”

“Am I trippin’ or is this…”

“Genuine question: Is she a Beyoncé fan?”

“Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.”

“Beyoncé is a Masterpiece and they will always try to copy her.”

“Cosplaying Beyoncé lmfao”

“Ok I’ll go watch the Beyoncé bowl for the thousand time.”

“I mean can y’all think for yourselves even just a LITTLE bit???”

“Um…this is just a cheap copy of Beyoncé’s performance last year.”
