Tyler Childers got a little more than riled up when it came time to sing “Bitin’ List” last night in Nashville.
The Kentucky native played the first of two shows in Music City on Friday night, with support from openers Cory Branan and Charley Crockett. It was one heck of a concert, and a picture-perfect Nashville night at Geodis Park (Nashville SC’s home stadium).
And as you might imagine, Childers’ setlist was chock-full of songs from his most recent album Snipe Hunter. “Snipe Hunt,” “Oneida,” “Eatin’ Big Time,” and “Cuttin’ Teeth” were all a part of the show. But the biggest Snipe Hunter performance of the night was undoubtedly the fan-favorite, incredibly viral song “Bitin’ List.”
It’s been the runaway hit of the album so far, and has sparked plenty of TikTok videos and streams (over half a million streams came on August 1st alone) since its release. The deranged, hate-fueled anthem has really found a home within Childers’ live shows. And as he introduced the track during the concert, it was almost like he was opening up for a therapy session:
“This song right here is about those people in your life that you just can’t stand. I’m not talking about those people in your life that just kind of aggravate you. Like people who don’t pick up their dog’s s***.
Or people who put their chewing gum anywhere, willy-nilly on the sidewalk. Nobody wants your gum on the bottom of their shoe, and chances are, if you’re going around willy-nilly throwing gum on the sidewalk, you’re gonna get gum on your shoe.
The other thing I can’t stand is people who ride their bicycles on the sidewalk. Stop it. It’s irritating. It’s called a side-walk. Or those people who ride those scooters. You all still got those here?”
Unfortunately, Nashville does still have the scooters. Tyler was surprised that not all of them had been “thrown into the river.”
Tyler Childers didn’t stop there. The pre-performance before the actual singing of “Bitin’ List” continued with the country music star honing in on the type of people that don’t return their shopping carts to their respective corrals:
“People who leave their grocery carts in the middle of the parking lot. Those are the kind of people that are usually the most indignant when they get a scratch on their car. Also, that’s just laziness. You’ve been pushing that thing around for the last hour and a half.
At certain times during your trip, it’s been heavy. It has not been any lighter since the time you started, and you couldn’t go that last extra step? Your shopping experience isn’t over!”
Amen to that.
But to be clear, Tyler Childers wasn’t focusing on those type of people with “Bitin’ List.” The song is reserved for people who are somehow even more aggravating and irritating than the examples he listed. If fans in Nashville were in need of more clarification, the singer hailing from Eastern Kentucky put it like this:
“I’m talking about those people in your life that you really can’t stand. You think about them for two seconds and it’s like… there’s that day. We’ll try again tomorrow, this one is shot.”

It was a legitimate, beautiful, five-minute-long rant from Tyler Childers… and it was awesome. Just as good as his actual performance of “Bitin’ List” if you ask me. It was as if Tyler was laying down on a therapist’s couch, and the Nashville crowd was his counselor.
Childers has one more therapy session concert scheduled in the United States on this run of tour dates. He’s back at Geodis Park for night two of his Music City shows on October 11, before he wraps up the tour on November 15 in London, U.K..
If you aren’t going to make it to either of those shows, make an effort to get out and see Tyler Childers soon. The concert’s worth attending solely for his “Bitin’ List” rant and performance.
Might as well fire up “Bitin’ List” while you are here, eh?
