Taylor Sheridan Shows Like ‘Landman,’ & ‘1923’ Were Largely Snubbed By The 2025 Emmy Awards
Taylor Sheridan got SNUBBED once again. There’s probably not anyone in the TV industry busier than Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Though his flagship series is wrapped up, he continues to be the mind behind various other hits that bring in millions of viewers per episode. For today’s standards, that’s almost uncalled for… but Sheridan has evidently cracked the code.
He’s got a previously-named-but-now-unnamed spinoff focused around Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler premiering in late 2025 (between September and December), Kacey Dutton’s The Marshals will premiere in early 2026 (between January and April), and 1944 will air later in 2026.
And there’s another Yellowstone spinoff that’s believed to be in the works – called The Madison – that’s rumored to air in early 2026. For those counting at home, that’s FOUR new Yellowstone spinoffs in the next year and a half or so. Does Taylor Sheridan sleep? Sure doesn’t seem like it, and that’s just the Yellowstone projects.
If you happen to like Taylor Sheridan shows outside of the Yellowstone universe, more of those are also coming later in 2026. It’s almost unfathomable to think about how many plates Sheridan currently has spinning, and how he continues to not miss whatsoever. Tulsa King is supposed to return September, with Mayor Kingstown following the next month in October, and the smash-hit Landman returning for its second season in November.
It’s no secret that Taylor Sheridan has a large fanbase that follows him to whatever show he’s behind. And it’s safe to say that fans love that Sheridan keeps his shows on a regular schedule, releasing new seasons every single year (with the exception of Yellowstone) in an age where other programs have two or even three year gaps between seasons.
Despite the love that Sheridan gets from fans, the writer and director rarely ever gets the credit he deserves from critics. That trend unfortunately continued with the latest Emmy nominations. Of all the shows I just mentioned that are currently on television – and even including the final season of Yellowstone – Sheridan shows received an insulting four total nominations across the board.
Landman and Yellowstone were completely snubbed, receiving zero combined nominations. The mafia drama series Tulsa King got a nomination for “Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming,” and Lioness was recognized in the category of Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Drama Programming.”
The other two Emmy nominations came from the Yellowstone spinoff 1923. It received two nods from the Emmys: one for “Outstanding Production Design” and another for “Outstanding Period Costumes.” Think of all the great acting throughout all of the Sheridan shows. Are you thinking about it? Well get this… no actor or actress in a Taylor Sheridan show was nominated for an acting award. And there are some big names that would certainly like a word.
The old saying goes that “if something happens once, it’s a coincidence… if it happens twice, it’s a pattern.” If you ask me, the Emmys – and every other awards show out there for that matter – seem to have a vendetta against Taylor Sheridan. How could one person be responsible for so much quality, highly-viewed television and never be awarded for it?
If Sheridan cares about that kind of stuff, that’s probably what he’s asking himself right now as his plethora of hit shows are once again ignored during awards season. The post Taylor Sheridan Shows Like ‘Landman,’ & ‘1923’ Were Largely Snubbed By The 2025 Emmy Awards first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
