Friday Night Lights‘ most important cast member? Pest control.
Taylor Kitsch has been in plenty of recognizable movies and TV shows throughout his career, including but not limited to John Carter, Lone Survivor, American Primeval, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf and, obviously, Friday Night Lights. If you are in need of a refresher, Kitsch played running back Tim Riggins in that iconic series.
Kitsch has been asked about Friday Night Lights a lot as of late because, in case you haven’t heard, the show is coming back. All signs are pointing towards the beloved show being yet another throwback program in the modern age getting the “reboot treatment.” Let’s be clear… not all shows need to be revived. Though I would imagine there’s a multitude of people that can get behind the return of Friday Night Lights.
Variety first confirmed that a fresh take on Friday Night Lights is in the works at Universal Television. However, fans might be disappointed to hear that while it’s set to take place in the “same universe” of the original show, it’s not expected to return any original cast members. So those that were hoping to see fan favorite characters played by Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Gaius Charles, Taylor Kitsch and Jesse Plemons again… it won’t exactly be that.
Though the program is expected to bring back some intricate parts of the production, with series show runner Jason Katims and executive producer Brain Grazer returning to tackle the revived football franchise (pun intended).
Clear eyes. Full heart. Reboot.
Taylor Kitsch isn’t hurting for work by any means (he’s the main character in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which just dropped today), but it would have been cool for him to find his way back to the Friday Night Lights reboot. Sadly, he and Kyle Chandler – A.K.A. Coach Taylor — have previously said that they haven’t been contacted about reprising their roles.
That being said, Kitsch has still entertained plenty of questions about the reboot, which has also presented the opportunity to talk about the classic series that captured the hearts of many. Kitsch’s Tim Riggins character was lovably troubled, and it sounds like the actual set of the Riggins household helped the actor bring that troubledness to life:
“Peter (Berg) set a real great example for the crew and cast to be free and take ownership of your character. And the precedent he sets with improv and lack of rehearsals to keep things alive, and natural lighting. You go to set, no rehearsals. You’ve got three roaming cameras at all times, and you’re in the Riggins house.
No joke, we’ve had to like cut half a day because they had to smoke it out because of bugs. It was legit disgusting in there, and people were getting sick. It’s the true Riggins house, and the freedom to be like… I love a prop, I love an activity while I’m working, and obviously Riggins is drinking 24/7… we had no policing.”
Gotta love a show that has over-the-top commitment to creating an environment. No wonder the Riggins household and the character of Tim Riggins were so believable…The post Taylor Kitsch Says The Riggins House In ‘Friday Night Lights’ Was A Legit Dump: “Had To Smoke It Out Because Of Bugs” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
