Here’s something for you Slayer heads, as well as those who love swimming in the murk of technical details. To mark the 35th anniversary of their album Seasons in the Abyss, the band has launched a special track-by-track video feature on Slaytanic Verses, the band’s free online museum, where Kerry King and Tom Araya will breakdown each of the album’s 10 tracks.

Seasons in the Abyss was released on October 9, 1990, on Rick Rubin’s Def American Recordings label. It was produced by Slayer, Rubin, and Andy Wallace.

The album’s title track was Slayer’s first music video, which directed by Di Puglia Gerard and award-winning filmmaker Markus Blunder. They pulled off a big feat with this one, filming it in December 1990 in front of the Great Sphinx of Giza on the Giza Plateau, Egypt. The video sees the band doing a grip of other cool shit, including floating down the Nile River. On that note, Tom Araya told Rolling Stone how he thought “‘Wow, Moses went down this water.’ To me, the history of what went on 3,000, 4,000 years ago was so cool.”

Along with the track-by-track deep dives, Slaytanic Verses will also house a limited series of exclusively signed memorabilia and collectibles. Araya and King hand-signed (that’s right, no bloody stamp!) everything from early sketches of the Season in the Abyss artwork, an RIAA gold plaque, a Seasons iron eagle logo, and artwork inspired by archival photos from the title track’s music video shoot.

Sounds like a Slayer fan’s wet dream, to be honest. Jizz away!
