The rumour mill is in full swing today, despite it being a Saturday – and we have another major forward update to bring you.Reliable insider @HandofArsenal has revealed that Brazilian forward Rodrygo has made a Premier League switch his preferred next move – and Arsenal are his “absolute priority” if a deal can be struck with Real Madrid.

Despite strong interest from Saudi clubs – with intermediaries acting under a direct mandate – Rodrygo’s camp has made it clear that the 24-year-old is focused on staying in Europe, specifically targeting a move to England’s top flight. Among the Premier League’s top teams, it’s Arsenal who are currently viewed as Rodrygo’s first choice.

This revelation comes amid growing speculation that Real Madrid could be open to offloading Rodrygo after his lack of use at the Club World Cup. With attacking depth no longer an issue at the Bernabéu, the Brazilian winger could find himself pushed down the pecking order next season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, remain in the market for a wide forward who can bring pace, technical quality and versatility to Mikel Arteta’s frontline. Rodrygo fits the profile perfectly. Still only 24, he has already racked up over 200 appearances for Madrid and scored some vital goals in their Champions League campaigns. His ability to play across the front line – particularly from the left – would give Arsenal further firepower and flexibility in attack.

Financially, any deal for Rodrygo would require a significant outlay. He is valued at €90million on transfermarkt. His contract runs until 2028, and Madrid are unlikely to let him leave cheaply unless the player forces a move. However, with Saudi clubs looming and offering huge fees, Arsenal may need to move quickly and decisively if they want to convince Madrid to negotiate on their terms.

This exclusive development adds weight to the growing narrative that Arsenal are targeting one marquee attacking addition this summer – and Rodrygo could well be that statement signing.
