Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme Was Stuck in Bed for Seven Months After Emergency Surgery

Last summer, fans of Queens of the Stone Age were shocked to learn that the band’s summer tour last year had to be put on the backburner due to some health concerns. Given frontman Josh Homme’s close calls in the past, it made fans worried that something bad had happened. Yet months later, he wadd
In a recent interview with Consequence, Homme revealed that the medical issue that came about last July and sidelined him for several months made it so the performance that ended up being Alive In The Catacombs was difficult for him to perform at the time.
“I was in a very difficult physical spot, and I’m really thankful that I was, actually. I couldn’t think about anything else but where we were. It’s better that I was unwell, because I think if I was well, we would’ve maybe been more ‘California’ about it and thought ‘Man, it’s so cool to be here…’ And something about that kind of sucks.”
And while it all worked out in the end, Homme said that his condition was so severe that almost immediately after recording the live album in Paris, he was back to recovery.
“I performed in the Catacombs, and within about 20 hours I was being sedated and put under. Then I spent the next sevens months in bed. I had a lot of time to think, you know? I was told I was gonna spend 18 months, two years there, so I was not excited.”
Here’s hoping we don’t have to write about any more major health issues surrounding Homme. Queens of the Stone Age fuckin’ rock and it’d be great to have them around for a while. As such, you can catch them at any of the tour dates listed below.
