Player ratings: Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal opened the Premier League season with three points in an ugly game at Manchester United.

The Gunners took the lead after a scrappy opening to the game. Declan Rice was back with his wicked delivery from set pieces and the Manchester United keeper could not prevent Riccardo Calafiori nodding in.

The Gunners were poor in possession, frequently giving up good opportunities to transition through Manchester United. David Raya saved excellently from Matheus Cunha to ensure Arsenal still had the lead at half-time.

In the second half Arsenal continued to be below par, really wasteful in possession and poor in the duels, often second best to Manchester United players. But Manchester United struggled to create many clear chances and ultimately Arsenal took all the points, something they very rarely manage to do at Old Trafford.
