What is Joe Willock’s injury update?
Willock has since seen his opportunity to return to the lofty heights of his loan spell curtailed slightly by his latest fitness issue.
The midfielder was involved in a late collision in a pre-season loss to a K-League XI in South Korea and was stretchered off the pitch.
Giving an update on Saturday, manager Eddie Howe said: “Joe Willock we initially feared that he could have injured part of his Achilles but that wasn’t the case. It looks like he has problems with a muscle in the calf.
“We feel the injury is not as bad as first feared which is good news for Joe. It is going to keep him out for a number of weeks, how many we are not sure, early diagnosis is looking four to six.
“Which is much better than we initially thought.”
Willock made 41 appearances for Newcastle last season and came off the bench in their Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool in March.
