Probably best to let an alligator of that size play through.

There’s a simple rule in golf. When you are out on the links with group of friends or some fellow golfers and you’re holding up play, you let faster golfers play through. It’s just common golf courtesy. And I don’t have any experience in letting alligators play through on the golf course, but I’d venture to say that it’s much of the same.

Just a bit more urgent, I suppose.

Why are gators always spotted parading around on golf courses? Well, alligator habitats and golf courses (especially in the “Sunshine State”) have a lot in common. Green grass? Open areas? Ponds and banks for lounging? Yeah, that’s an alligator’s dream.

That’s why this golf course in Palmetto, Florida (Buffalo Creek Golf Course to be exact) and the countless other courses in the state have as many alligators roaming their fairways as they do golfers. This video of a massive dinosaur gator was posted by meteorologist Matt Devitt, who has quickly become the go-to source as of late for wild videos out of Florida.

To be frank, it didn’t look like the alligator could care any less that the golfers were out on the course. As far as the gator was concerned, it owned the entirety of the green acreage that it was so menacingly walking on. Somehow, the Florida golfer was able to focus on hitting his putt while the alligator was stalking closely behind.

Take that Shooter McGavin… you can still hit a putt when that is going on.

The Florida weather man that posted the clip fittingly related the scene to Jurassic Park, and even overlaid the iconic movie’s theme onto the video. Since alligators are second closest relatives to dinosaurs (the first, surprisingly, being birds), this is as close as any human can get to playing golf in Jurassic Park.

That is unless scientists revive dinosaurs like they did the extinct dire wolf. But hopefully they’ll watch the half dozen movies about dinosaurs and humans not being able to co-exist and decide against that.

We’ve already got way too many incidents of golfers and gators sharing the course. The last thing we need are some velociraptors running around on the links, and if that was going to happen anywhere… I’d assume that would be something reserved for the wild, crazy state of Florida.

Enough about me being scared and concerned about Jurassic Park becoming a reality. Go ahead and enjoy this surreal clip of a 7-foot alligator getting a little too close for comfort to a golfer in the Sunshine State:

“Welcome to Florida… where you can casually golf with dinosaurs. This massive gator was spotted at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto.”

Welp… that’s terrifying.

Now I’ve just got to figure out what golf course that is so I can make sure to never book a round of golf there. Then again, if I want to avoid gators, I probably should just avoid Florida in general. The post Monstrous Alligator Stalks Florida Golfer In Wild Scene Out Of The Sunshine State first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
