Emotional goodbyes suck, so why not have a whole movie full of them? That’s what filmmaker Morgan Tedd kinda did for metalcore band Misery Signals, capturing all of the best and likely emotional moments of their 2024 farewell tour. A little less than a month after it gets its online release, the doc, titled Love is Forever, Blood is Forever, will also get a one-night-only theatrical screening.
Love is Forever, Blood is Forever isn’t just about the band, it’s about Tedd’s love for the band. The passion project carries a lot of weight, with him saying:
“I’ve loved Misery Signals for as long as I can remember. Of Malice and the Magnum Heart was such a formative album for me and countless other musicians. To be asked to create two music videos for the band, as well as direct their Live in Isolation performance during the Covid years, was an honour.
“Those projects were made across oceans, but for this documentary, I wanted closeness. I wanted to capture the bond between the band, their fans, and the music itself; to celebrate the joy and intensity of their live performances through a reflective lens, as they toured for the final time before laying Misery Signals to rest. This film is my love letter to the band, and a shared celebration from one fan, to every fan.”
Footage was shot and edited by Tedd, along with some additional footage provided by Jim Madden and Tyler Hamende. It’s gonna premiere online on YouTube on October 18, with the special theatrical screening taking place at The Williams Center in Rutherford, NJ, on November 8.
After the screening, Tedd’s doing a Q&A session, along with a multi-camera presentation of the band’s October 19 swan song performance at Union Hall in Edmonton, AB.
Tickets for the screening are on sale now, and you can purchase one here if you can make it.
