Malevolent Creation’s Phil Fasciana Hospitalized with “Life-Threatening” Bacterial Pneumonia

A scary situation is unfolding for Malevolent Creation and their founding guitarist/primary songwriter Phil Fasciana, who is currently battling an “absolutely life-threatening” case of bacterial pneumonia. According to a post on the band’s official Facebook page, Fasciana was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Montpelier, France.

Things have progressed so drastically that medical professionals worry that the infection may have spread to other organs in his body, complicating treatment and exacerbating the severity of his condition. According to the band, Fasciana’s family was notified of the situation and they’re actively making decisions about his care.

While all of this is going on, his bandmates are dealing with the deep emotional distress of seeing their bandmate become so desperately ill. They’ve asked fans to “please keep Phil in your thoughts and/or prayers with hope he makes a full recovery.”

“Dear Malevolent fans, far and wide: It is with immense sadness that we report our helmsman Phillip Fasciana was admitted to the ICU in Montpelier, France last night. He developed what the doctors deemed to be a severe case of bacterial pneumonia, which may have spread to surrounding organs. He has been listed as being in critical condition.

“His family has been notified and will be deciding on next steps, based on what is best for Phil’s condition and overall health. We are all crushed to see him in this situation, and it is absolutely life-threatening. So please, please keep Phil in your thoughts and/or prayers with hope he makes a full recovery. Make no mistake, this is a very bad situation and we greatly appreciate your love and understanding. It is with the support and direction of his immediate family that have requested we finish the remainder of the tour in Phil’s absence, as he needs to focus on his recovery.”

Malevolent Creation are in Europe for their run of shows with Massacre on the Death Invasion Europe Tour. At this time, there’s no news about the status of the remaining dates.
