Malevolent Creation Shares “Positive News” About Phil Fasciana, Who’s Been in a Medically Induced Coma
Some good news for once! The post Malevolent Creation Shares “Positive News” About Phil Fasciana, Who’s Been in a Medically Induced Coma appeared first on MetalSucks.

It’s been a scary situation for the dudes in Malevolent Creation lately. Their founding guitarist and songwriter Phil Fasciana has been hospitalized and in critical condition with a severe case of bacterial pneumonia. Things were not looking good for a time there, but it’s sounding like things are progressing quite nicely now.
In a prepared statement direct from the band, it’s been a difficult situation to be in, but thanks to the treatments, things are looking up. Here’s their official statement:
“There is positive news to share regarding Phil’s condition. However, to understand the gravity of the situation, we need to be fully transparent with the fact that when Phil was admitted to the ICU, he was placed in an induced coma to avoid any intense strain on his cardiovascular system during his intravenous treatment.
“Phil has shown improvement, and the doctors are remaining positive based on signs of his recovery, as his infection has almost cleared up! He is slowly being taken off of breathing assistance, and he is responding to his name as they attempt to communicate with him, but he is not out of the woods just yet. He will likely be in the hospital for another week, at least, but his overall condition is improving.
“We cannot express enough how much his family, friends, and we as his brothers-in-arms appreciate the continuing thoughts, hopes and prayers directed towards his recovery. We will do our best to provide timely updates as they become available and appropriate, based on further developments. Horns high, for you, Phil. We love you.”
For those that don’t remember just how bad things got for Fasciana, it was looking pretty grim last week. Malevolent Creation was in Europe for their run of shows with Massacre on the Death Invasion Europe Ctime, there’s no news about the status of the remaining dates.
It was believed by European doctors that he infection may have spread to other organs in his body, complicating treatment and exacerbating the severity of his condition. Infections are no joke, so they kept him for observation and treatment.
With Fasciana showing signs of improvement, the band said they plan on keeping fans in the loop throughout his recovery. Here’s hoping he ‘gets better even sooner.
