Go OFF, Luke Combs.

Last night, he shared a cover of the Teddy Swims hit “Lose Control,” which became a massive commercial success on Top 40 radio that I’m sure you’ve heard at some point, whether in the grocery store, on the radio, or pretty much anywhere else because it was such a huge song.

Swims first blew up after he started posting covers of popular songs on YouTube, like an extremely viral one of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still The One,” and he has an incredible range and powerful voice that caught the attention of fans all over the world, and eventually led to him signing a record deal. He put out “Lose Control” in in June of 2023 as the second single from his debut studio album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1).

He co-wrote it with Joshua Coleman, Marco Rodriguez, Mikky Ekko, and Julian Bunetta, and it eventually became his first song to reach the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at number 99 and eventually peaking at number one in March of 2024. It has spent a record breaking 60 non-consecutive weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 top ten.

Of course, Combs is one of the strongest vocalists in country music, and he can quite literally sing anything and make it sound good, so it’s always fun to hear him really show that off and let it rip on a ballad like this. I’ll be honest, I never went out of my way to listen to “Lose Control,” but I still heard it so much that I started to dislike it because it was so overplayed, but hearing Luke sing it gives it new life and a much twangier sound, so I’m here for that.

He’s been dropping hints that a new album is in the works and has straight up said recently he has new music coming soon and also plans to do a full-on tour next year, which will likely be in support of a new record that we’ll hopefully get to hear sooner rather than later.

But until then, he’s keeping the fans fed with teasers and awesome covers like this:
