Kyle Walker handed 2/10 while SEVEN England players rated lower than five after Senegal horror show

Harry Kane, the only player to survive Tuchel’s ten changes to the side that beat Andorra 1-0 last Saturday, netted the opener in the seventh minute.

But England’s lead went up in smoke when a brain-fade from Kyle Walker at the back allowed Sarr to nip in front and slam home past Dean Henderson late in the first-half.

It was an impressive display from the Lions of Teranga in the opening 45 minutes as they registered six shots on target, the most England had faced in a first half since June 2013.

Diarra nudged Senegal ahead in the 62nd minute as he took advantage of Myles Lewis-Skelly’s poor positioning to gallop down the right flank and slot the ball through Henderson’s legs from a tight angle.

Jude Bellingham thought he’d rescued an equaliser seven minutes from time but his goal was ruled out after VAR deemed Levi Colwill handled the ball from a corner.

Given the humiliating result for the Three Lions, it’s no surprise talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham has provided one of his most scathing editions of England player ratings yet.

The Good

There wasn’t much to like about the performance, so we may as well start with those who came out of the embarrassment with some credit.

Kane received a 7/10 for his display , as Durham praised his tendency to drop deep and spray some ‘terrific’ passes around the park.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Morgan Rogers, who both came off the bench in the second half, also received scores of 7/10.

Durham hailed Gibbs-White for his ‘energetic and creative’ cameo and noted Rogers ‘made a positive difference going forward’.

Bellingham was another who came off the bench and tried to inspire, only to be let down by a controversial VAR decision as he was handed a score of 6/10.

Durham also rated Eberechi Eze 6/10 but noted the Crystal Palace ace ‘hasn’t firmly made a declaration that he’s England’s first choice number ten’.

Conor Gallagher earned a 6/10 rating as well for his industry in midfield.

The Bad

Bukayo Saka showed glimpses of his brilliance but, as Durham noted, he was ‘not his usual brilliant self’ and received a 5/10.

So too did second-half substitute Noni Madueke.

Anthony Gordon had his head in his hands when he missed a sitter in the first half as Durham rated him 4/10, deeming the Newcastle flyer ‘capable of more’.

In the midfield, Declan Rice scored a 6/10 rating with an ‘okay’ performance but given he has over 60 international caps to his name, Durham felt the Arsenal ace ‘should be giving us more’.

The Ugly

Given England shipped three goals against Senegal, it’s no shock the entire back line and goalkeeper all scored 3/10 or less.

Durham noted Henderson pulled off a brilliant save on Sarr earlier in the contest, but he still awarded the gloveman 3/10 and felt Jordan Pickford ‘won’t feel threatened’ about losing his place.

Centre-back pairing Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah along with left-back Lewis-Skelly all scored 3/10.

But Durham tore into Kyle Walker, who received a 2/10 rating.

Curtis Jones had a second-half cameo off the bench to forget and was ‘massively at fault’ for Senegal’s third, so it was perhaps fitting Durham gave him a 3/10 rating.

But Durham’s most ruthless verdict was reserved for Tuchel in a result that has signalled his honeymoon period is well and truly over.

“No way does that second Senegal goal, from a ball over the top, cause problems if (Gareth) Southgate is in charge,” Durham said.

“It’s not been a brilliant start to his England career.”
