Justin Clyde Williams Turns Road Rage Into A Cleverly Written Country Tune With New Single “85”
If you’ve ever driven on I-85, you need to hear this song from Justin Clyde Williams. If you’ve ever driven on any interstate for that matter, you’ll find this one relatable, but as a lifelong resident of the Carolinas, I am confident that it doesn’t get any worse than I-85. And as a Charlotte-area native himself, it’s clear Williams is in agreement in his aptly-titled new single “85.” Now, if your not from the Southeast, I-85 is the interstate that […] The post Justin Clyde Williams Turns Road Rage Into A Cleverly Written Country Tune With New Single “85” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

And as a Charlotte-area native himself, it’s clear Williams is in agreement in his aptly-titled new single “85.”
Now, if your not from the Southeast, I-85 is the interstate that runs from Montgomery, AL to Petersburg, VA, crossing through Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC, and Charlotte, NC, among other metros in its path. With constant, never-ending construction inevitably taking over lanes and the worst drivers you’ve ever seen surrounding you any time you have to drive it, I-85 is well known for being an absolute nightmare more often than not.
And thankfully, a talented artist like Justin Clyde Williams has finally put this I-85 induced frustration into a cleverly-written and way too relatable road rage anthem. Check out “85” for yourself below:
“Get over buddy, you’re making the whole world late
I got some places to go but I can’t get there with you hoggin’ up the Earnhardt lane
You’ve been playing on your phone with your blinker on and crossing every line
So get over buddy, where in the hell did you learn to drive?
Likening I-85 to a fist fight is one of the best analogies I’ve heard, Justin Clyde Williams killed it on this one.
“85” is the latest single off of Williams’ forthcoming record Flying, and as the fifth single released thus far, culminates the release of the record’s A-side. Produced by legendary Kentucky artist Nicholas Jamerson, Williams’ Flying features 11 tracks and perfectly showcases the songwriting prowess of one of country music’s most underrated lyricists.
Check out the tracklist for Flying below, and give the singles that have already been released a listen for yourself as well.

Justin Clyde Williams doesn’t tour extensively, but if you’re lucky enough to have him coming through your city, you don’t want to miss his show. As you could probably gather from songs like “85” and “Fishin’,” Williams is full of clever jokes which makes for a captivating show, and hearing him sing some of his more serious music in person is a powerful experience. He has a few dates scheduled thus far for the summer, and hopefully some more shows are int he works as well.
