Why we love him folks.
Arguably the hottest artist in country music not named Morgan Wallen or Zach Bryan, Zach Top has seemingly been everywhere lately. Between touring with Dierks Bentley on his Broken Branches Tour, scoring viral hits such as “I Never Lie” and “Use Me” and continuing his dedication to bringing the sounds and styles of the 90s back, the Washington native has quickly risen to “it” status in the genre.
Last night, Top took his talents to a sold-out crowd at West Virginia’s State Fair in Lewisburg and delivered a phenomenal set which included newly released tracks, “South of Sanity” and “Good Times & Tan Lines,” past hits and even underrated deep cuts such as “Justa Jonesin’.”
The set wasn’t without some hijinks, however. Midway through the set, Top was thrown an empty Fireball shooter. Picking it up, he told the crowd:
“How rude was that? You’re gonna throw a Fireball shot up here with nothing in it?”
After throwing it back along with his empty can of Coors Banquet, he then apologized to the crowd for throwing them too hard. But immediately after apologizing, other members of the crowd began throwing their own Fireball shooters at Top, and luckily for him, this time they were full.
Grabbing the bottle off his pedalboard, Top hilariously remarked:
“This is warm. I hope this has been in somebody’s boot. I don’t wanna think about where else it might have been.”
I think we all know where his mind was going with that comment, so I don’t think I need to further clarify that one…
After some cheers, the “Sounds Like the Radio” singer took the shot along with his fiddle player, once again tossing the bottle back into the crowd. He’d also add:
“Wow, that was so warm. I’m still really hungover from last night, I’m afraid.”
Apparently, either a hot sauce packet or a Slim Jim was also thrown up on stage during the interaction, which prompted Top to finish by saying:
“Settle down now… Next thing, somebody’s going to be throwing me their 4-H chicken up here or something. Come on.”
If there wasn’t already enough evidence of Zach Top being one of the most entertaining and effortlessly funny performers around today, I think this interaction just proves it.
