With (James) Maddison, well, fingers crossed it’s not a very serious injury. “But obviously he’s injured in the short term. I think he would be absolutely ideal to take that role.” Jeff Stelling added: “I think he’s a terrific player. And obviously he’s on the periphery at Anfield. “He deserves more Premier League time. From my perspective, he’s used to life in London because he used to be at Fulham. Pardew also cited Frank’s previous work at Brentford, concluding: “I think if I was Harvey Elliott and I was his agent or in his team, I think Spurs is an absolutely perfect fit. “The manager has been brilliant with young players at Brentford. So he has a great track record with that.” Elliott has two years left on his deal at Anfield having joined the club from Fulham aged 15 in 2018. He progressed through the Cottagers’ academy after initially starting his career at London rivals Queens Park Rangers. Although he has already made 92 Premier League appearances for the Reds, he was limited to just 18 last term. Arne Slot has since signed Florian Wirtz to add to the competition for places in his midfield ahead of the upcoming campaign.
