Expert rage baiting.
Gavin Adcock has found himself at the center of quite a few feuds in country music lately.
By now you’ve no doubt seen the viral video of Zach Bryan jumping over a fence to confront Gavin last weekend at Born & Raised Fest in Oklahoma.
@greatamericanbarscene This is for Charley #zachbryan #gavinadcock
And you’ve also probably heard about his ongoing feud with Charley Crockett, that actually started when Gavin called out Beyoncé during a show over the summer:
“There are only three people in front of me on the Apple Music country charts. And one of ’em is Beyoncé. You can tell her we’re coming for her f***ing a**. That s**t ain’t country music and it’s never ever been country music and it will never be country music.”

Crockett then took to his own social media to defend the Cowboy Carter singer, while taking some not-so-subtle shots at Gavin and Morgan Wallen:
“Hey country folks. Beyoncé ain’t the source of your discontent. It was 25 years of bro country. The number one country artist on Earth listens to nothing but rap. Openly says he doesn’t really know any country music. Gotta respect his honesty.
The machine points to a black woman who’s making a statement about marginalized people being removed from the conversation altogether, and somehow we all act like the entire pop industry didn’t just ambush roots music. These ‘country boys’ been singing over trap beats for years.
So what’s different now? Authenticity. Many of those business folks called me early on. They had whole albums pre-written and recorded ready to just plug me in. I have receipts. It’s harder than ever to keep the public’s attention. They said and I quote, ‘We wanna get into country music where you have audience loyalty.’ Hot today, forgot tomorrow.
I don’t need to put down a black woman to advance my music. That’s just embarrassing to the idea of America and I got no respect for it.”
Well long story short, Gavin fired back and called Charley a “cosplay cowboy,” Charley sent Gavin roses and a copy of his new album, Benjamin Tod jumped in and took Charley’s side, Paul Cauthen called out Crockett himself, and Morgan Wallen flipped off a Charley Crockett t-shirt during a performance with Gavin.
It’s safe to say it’s been a busy couple weeks for Gavin Adcock.
But apparently it’s been pretty successful for him. Of course there have been plenty of folks on both sides of the debate, those who are fans of him speaking his mind and those who are turned off by it (and of course those who don’t like his politics but use everything else as an excuse to bash him).
The number one rule though, is that as long as they’re talking about you, you’re winning.
Gavin took to social media this afternoon to thank his fans for sticking with him through the controversies – but even more, he thanked his haters for giving him the attention, because according to Gavin it’s given him one of the biggest streaming weeks of his career:
“For all the people out there that’s loved and supported me over the past four years of my career, thank y’all so much. I love y’all. Gonna always stand up and support y’all and do what’s right.
For all the sissies out there that I’ve been living rent-free in their head, thank y’all for making this one of the biggest streaming weeks of my career. You fell right into the trap.”
@gavinadcockmusic Have a great weekend
You know what they say: All publicity is good publicity. And it seems to be working out pretty well for Gavin.
Personally I can’t wait to see who he starts beef with next. If he needs any suggestions, I’ve got plenty.The post Gavin Adcock Thanks His Haters For One Of The Biggest Streaming Weeks Of His Career: “You Fell Right Into The Trap” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
