Concession Prices At Football Games Have Gotten So Out Of Hand That A Chicago Bears Fan Snuck In…. A Gallon Bag Of Spaghetti

Paying concession stand prices in this economy? Get real. Food prices at sporting events and concerts have seen a horrendous uptick in the past decade. If you plan on going to a stadium or arena near you, you’ve usually got to prepare to fork over $20 for a chicken strip basket, and good luck finding a beer for under $12.

Things have truly gotten out of hand.

Some people refer to it as the “Stadium Tax.” That just means that once they’ve got you inside the stadium, they can pretty much charge whatever they want. Want a beer? Or a burger? Outside the walls of the event, you could probably get a beer and a burger for $10 or $15 bucks. Inside? You practically have to take out a loan if you want to eat and drink.

That’s pretty much how it is at any venue to you go to, and it’s a real shame. Fans should be able to just enjoy their in-stadium experience after they’ve paid an exorbitant amount just to get in the joint. Instead, they have to play the numbers game to figure out how they can afford to both eat and drink while they watch their favorite team.

However, one Chicago Bears fan figured out a work around… and now they are going viral.

This past Sunday, the Bears had a big matchup against the Cleveland Browns. When I say “big,” I just mean from the standpoint of Chicago. They needed a win to further their playoff chances, stay atop the NFC North, and maintain pace with the Los Angeles Rams, who currently hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC (Bears are No. 2). Cleveland? They suck, per usual, and have no playoff hope whatsoever.

While the not-so-exciting game played out on the field (the Bears won 31-3), one fan was having a very filling meal in the stands… that they brought from home. This bundled-up Bears fan said to heck with the concession prices and decided to meal prep for the contest. They snuck in a gallon bag full of spaghetti, and went to town on it while the Bears and Browns battled out on the gridiron:

That’s simply hilarious.

The even more comical detail is that it appears the fan wrote “Bears vs Browns 12-14” on the label part of the bag. That implies that they either a) cooked up a big batch of spaghetti at the beginning of the week and saved one for each day or b) they bring a bag of spaghetti to every Bears home game (can you freeze spaghetti?), and they label it like that so they know which one to grab before they head out.

I’ll be honest… I like the way they think. Spaghetti isn’t the first food that I would have thought of to sneak into an NFL game, but judging by this video, it looks like it works. A hot dog or a burger could get smushed on the way in as you try to get it past security. A bag of spaghetti? You can smush it all day long and it’s not going to affect it at all. When you stop and think about it, it’s a very versatile food to eat out of a bag.

Is it good cold? Probably not. But is it better than paying $30 something dollars for a crummy chicken sandwich and a bottle of water? You bet it is.The post Concession Prices At Football Games Have Gotten So Out Of Hand That A Chicago Bears Fan Snuck In…. A Gallon Bag Of Spaghetti first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
