I love him, I’m going to miss him. We are trying also to find different solutions.” Maresca has now been told exactly who he should target in order to push for the Premier League title this term. Adrian Durham believes Guehi’s return to Stamford Bridge would set Chelsea up to end their nine-year wait for the trophy. The talkSPORT co-host told Drive: “If Chelsea go and get Marc Guehi back from Crystal Palace I think Chelsea probably win the league. “I know I’ve said Arsenal but we’re talking with a few weeks left of the window. “So if things change dramatically, if Liverpool go and sign Guehi and Alexander Isak there’s no competition. They’ve won the league. The England international began his career at Chelsea, though, spending 14 years with the club having initially joining their academy as a youngster. Guehi went on to make two first-team appearances prior to his 2021 switch to Selhurst Park. Would Palace sell Guehi? Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted the club could be forced to reluctantly sell Guehi this month to avoid losing him for free next summer. Asked about the prospect of selling the 25-year-old after their Community Shield triumph over Liverpool, via ESPN, he explained: “Yes. I mean, we’d have to, of course. “For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem. No doubt about it, unfortunately. “We had one bid [last summer] but Joachim [Andersen] went [to Fulham] and we couldn’t afford to lose both of them. “We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation as well, and the player had a point of view on that one. “So we just have to see what happens but it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.” Chelsea have already spent over £240million on eight new signing so far this summer.
