Aston Villa stars appear to make pointed message after Jacob Ramsey sold to Newcastle

Jacob Ramsey has been sent a series of messages by his former Aston Villa teammates following his exit to Newcastle. Following his Villa Park exit, several players have taken to social media to react to the transfer. Amongst them were captain John McGinn and former skipper Tyrone Mings. The pair both appeared to make a pointed message with their shows of support for Ramsey. Sharing Villa’s announcement of the deal to his Instagram story, Mings wrote: “Don’t wanna hear any bad words or anything negative on this name. You don’t know the half.” Meanwhile, McGinn made a post of his own, stating: “A perfect example of how an academy player should handle the transition to the first-team. Always humble, respectful and willing to learn. “It’s been a privilege to share the dressing room with you and enjoy some special moments together on the pitch. “A sad day losing a top player and person and one of our own but it seems to be the way football is set up these days! All the best JJ.” Villa’s director of football operations Damian Vidagany also took to social media on Sunday night. Clubs need some rules to stick to, but PSR is making it very complex. “The system is forcing the clubs to sell their academy players, this is the way to get more profit and be able to stick to the rules, and I think this is killing some spirit of football. “It’s something that is not natural in football, something that is breaking the cycle, affecting the inflation of the salary of the players, how the club want to build squads and also forcing clubs to do deals that are not natural in the market. “To get the best deals you need time, and PSR is not helping the clubs. He follows Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw’s arrivals as well as the loan signing of Aaron Ramsdale. Following the move, Ramsey told the club’s media channels: “This is a big move for me, but as soon as I knew the gaffer was interested and really liked me, it didn’t take much time to decide. “It was always a tough game playing for Villa against Newcastle – the team is full of energy, so athletic and the fans are so passionate. “I feel my game will suit that and I’m excited to be on the other end of it now.” Newcastle began their campaign with a goalless draw away to Villa on Saturday.
